ST Coach Josh Martin leaves Nebraska

The way college football works is that if a coach comes in for one year and has success coordinating a unit, then you can just take anyone occupying space in the football offices and tell them “do what the last guy did” and not only will you not see a drop off, there is a good chance you will improve.

Pretty standard stuff, really.

Didn’t Matt say we’d be going internal to cover his replacement? It’s gonna be Ron brown isn’t it

When we lost the assistant special teams coach who didn't have great results running his own room at his last stop, it became apparent that the whole program was lost.
"We don't want this fucking guy to take over"

"Wow. I can't believe they lost this fucking guy who we didn't want"

It’s true. But it also highlights the utter stupidity of not hiring a special teams coach.

Had one of the best units in the country. Couldn’t retain the coach. Decided it was fine to run the room by a committee of underlings. 1/3 of the committee decides he’d rather be at an elementary school.

Doesn’t seem like a well executed plan, but maybe we have come up with an entirely new model that will revolutionize the sport.

Can somebody post something that says we had one of the best special teams units in the country? The only one I’ve seen had us 62nd

Graphing College Football had us 46th

BCF Toys had us 3rd when adjusted for opposition, driven mostly by punt return efficiency and kickoff efficiency.
