You know something weird...I've never really tailgated before.

I grew up going to mostly high school and local D2 games every weekend and an annual trip to the Cotton Bowl. Not really a tailgating scene and my dad is not the type of guy to tailgate (he's not super social and I'm 42 years old and never seen him drink a drop of alcohol in my life).


My oldest son (14) and I go to maybe 1 Husker game a year and we like to see the teams warm up so we try to get to our seats an hour before kick off. We have no ties to Nebraska at all so when we go we literally only know each other at the games. But many times we've gotten to Lincoln 3 hours before kickoff and have been like "welp what do we do now?" We end up just walking around not doing anything.

People say "just walk up to a tailgate and start a conversation" but that can't be how it really works. And that definitely isn't a strong suit of mine.

Always wanted to try the experience. This isn't a plea for someone to invite us to a tailgate...just have never told anybody that before.

Tailgating is a pretty fun experience. Sometimes it can be a little crowded depending on who were playing. Colorado was insane and you didn't have much room to move around. It's best to get to the tailgate a few hours early because people just start showing up out of nowhere and all of a sudden it is just crowds of people. It clears out quite a bit once the gates open (90 minutes before kickoff). Most tailgates are pretty friendly, but we always have to watch for some obnoxious bystanders that will just lurk around and try to take food and drinks without donating. You are always more than welcome to stop by our tailgate when you come to a game.

Damn, I should really try to go to the meetup next year. I had my 3 yo and 1 yo with me at the Rutgers game, so thought it best to keep them away from you all.
