That was really the only controversial hire so expecting him to pimp Raiola as a form of defending it. I ran this hire by friends who played college/NFL football and all of them said it was a highly risky move. They couldn't figure out why Scott would hire a complete unproven coach at a struggling position group in what could be his final season if we continue losing.
I can already see the headlines a year from now about how hiring Dylan Riola's uncle to get him to sign with DONU has backfired after another 5-7 season with awful OL play.

I say this every damn year, they can't get worse, and every fucking year, it seems like there is some hope on the OL, then it turns to hawt butthole. Cuts me deep as a guy that played OL/TE and has coached those positions for 17 years.

I’ve never coached or played OL, but from my uninformed opinion it seems like teams that make strong, sound, fundamental OL as THE top priority on offense are never bad. They might not win 10+ every year, but they never have the 6+ loss disaster seasons, either.

See the fuckeyes, Wisconsin.

You can have decent athletes with a good to great OL and you're going to win some games.

I give zero fucks how he is in front of the camera. As long as he can teach and recruit...but hard to think it may not carry over to recruiting.
100% agree but we literally judge all of the other coaches by their interviews and time in front of a camera but when a coach goes in front of the media and acts like he has a social disorder/mentally retarded we just ignore it and assume it doesn't translate at all to his coaching abilities?

I know I'm in the minority here and got bashed in the past for judging this guy based on his first interview but I have a strong feeling we will be talking about that O-line a lot at the end of next year and not in a good way. Maybe that's more so due to his lack of experience though.

One thing that should be noted is that Belichik is terrible in front of the camera too but does pretty well on game day. Not trying to argue though as I think Raiola has been atrocious in front of the camera and doesn't seem to be awesome around people he doesn't know.

The only way this dude is tolerable is in that hat.

I hadn't seen Raiola's spring practice presser until a minute ago and honestly, he didn't do nearly as bad as his first interview. He put together a few sentences, he's come a long way. He didn't know who Cam Jurgens was. He didn't watch any film from last year? The hell

I feel like that's mostly by choice lol, he just hates the media.
