I think it was in the late 80's when that happened to him. I'd of been in 3rd or 4th grade. I've partied in Deweese multiple times. At Dan Black's dive bar and the other place too.

Yea I know the Blacks. His nephew Ryan is a crazy motherfucker. I lived in that shithole house for part of my life right to the East of that bar next to Deweese Sand and travel if it’s even named that anymore. I heard that little bar did better than the new one they built.

The last time I drank in a bar in Deweese was the early 2000s when I was back for alumni basketball. It was the Horseshoe inn. It was the bar that burned down. I got fucked up and took my car around the corner going south out of Deweese while texting and not paying attention. The next thing I know I’m in the ditch taking out a barbed wire fence. Funny thing is I was probably going 35 mph. I had to walk a ways up a hill to get reception and call my old man. The good thing about being around there is you didn’t have to worry about DUIs.

I was there, I work there. It's fuckin horrific. I worked on Darrin until EMS got there. I was in a meeting with my boss Eric,. Darrin (who's Eric's boss) plus Darrin's boss out of KC corporate office. They were offering me the new position. I caught a bullet in my back that went through Darrin. I was jumping towards the closet where the shotgun was when I felt the bullet. Eric jumped in there before me, had grabbed the shotgun and put the shot in that mother fuckers chest. Sandy Nelson and Darrin Koepke were two of the nicest creations God ever gave us! My best girlfriend is on the EMS team, I was never more happy to see her in my whole life. Two days later we're both a mess.

So sorry you had to go through this. Take care of your self.

I may......I didn't know him real well, but he and his family were very close with my parents and attend the same church. It'll be a large funeral at a small-ish church.....I'd rather make sure his family and friends are able to attend.
