With that said, I'm not sure what was going on the last few cycles, but the state of Nebraska had some extremely highly ranked recruits that frankly just weren't that good. Hall, McMorris, Coleman, Woods... the list could probably go on. But a guy like Ben Brahmer at Cockeye State now or Zane Flores I would want here, Devon Jackson and Ernest Hausman I would want here.
I think the states high bust rate causes concern for Rhule to go to much into getting players.
Brahmer could play here.
Zane Flores can’t, he was 2nd team at ok state till Hauss Henjay got injured and he’s played very subpar.

I can also pass on Devon Jackson, I don’t need a 4th year junior that’s barely 2nd team.

Ernest Hausman id take back.

The schools won't be able to bump everyone next year as they will be paying less than this year (the collectives emptied their bank accounts on the current season's team before the new rules took effect). Revenue sharing isn't big enough to fund it. The extra money for everyone will have to come from true NIL (or unreported under the table money).

I can't see us raising anyone who is sitting on the bench to seven figure revenue sharing, especially given we have a top 2027 QB coming in.
I don’t think you can let Lateef walk without putting up a fight. Dylan staying 4 years bridges the gap for Trae Taylor so he wouldn’t need to start as a true freshman, but the kid is still an unknown. Now you know what you’ve got with Lateef (to an extent). Maybe you don’t have to fork out 7 figures to keep him next year, but I bet that’s what someone would pay on the open market. And if Dylan does leave after his junior year, you definitely want Lateef.

This is just my opinion and I don't know shit about fuck but I really think we DO have the money to compete with the higher ups. You don't have two of the highest paid WRs and one of the highest paid QBs in the sport without being able to pony up some dough
Feel pretty confident with my info... we basically went WR, OL, and edge rushers with our money. We didn't have enough to keep DL and RBs and had to choose.

Nebraska doesn’t have the most money but they have enough money to play ball and get better players.
Theres no reason fill up a class with low level in state players while having a race to the bottom with Cockeye state
Again, I'm not saying go grab all of them, so hopefully people aren't thinking that. But there's 4 guys within the state of Nebraska that would be top5 in our recruiting class right now and they are heading elsewhere. Our one in-state commit is 2nd to last in our class and is not even in the top10 of the state. 3 of the 4 linemen we have committed from out of state for 2026 are ranked lower than the 6'8 kid heading to Northwestern from Norfolk Catholic. Darion Jones' brother on our team not getting what he feels he's worth was a factor for us losing him to Cockeye.

Rankings don't mean everything, and I agree with the fact we have money to get some of what we need. But there's some kids in this 2026 in-state class that can play at the B1G level that are getting away, for whatever the reason.

Wasn’t Ernest Hauserman here and then he decided to transfer to Biff's Butthole Surfers?

And Zane Flores may be fine but seems like we’re doing just fine in the QB room, no?

I agree there have been a handful of Nebraska guys who succeeded at other programs that we didn’t try in earnest to grab but it sure seems like there have been a lot more who have disappointed and taken up roster space over the last decade+.
Yes, got a bag from Biff's Butthole Surfers, staff left, etc. Zane Flores probably would have transferred with Raiola committing the following year, I was more just saying there's players in the state from each class. We grabbed Kaelin and he bolted, again may be because of Raiola though. My point bringing those guys up is there are players out of Nebraska, entire classes aren't flops.

But to your bottom point, that's really the issue. There are probably more that have flopped than have flourished. I just think you can't ignore the state or it gets dicey in a hurry. There's already whispers (right or wrong). For what it's worth, I can list 5 off the top of my head that are ranked high that would help our team ranking that I wouldn't want Rhule to even engage in conversation with.

I think Rhule felt burned by a few people as well.

I still remember when we had a guy that was really struggling, high school coach asked how he was doing and HC goes "he just doesn't want it, fakes some injuries and barely is practicing" to which his high school coach goes "ya that doesn't surprise me"

Well why the fuck did you tell me to recruit him then?

That happens everywhere, but Rhule has had a high bust rate with local skill guys on offense. Conversely, he better not forget about the state of Nebraska for TEs, and he better pray he isn't wrong on DBs from this state considering he is going to be relying on a couple in the coming years. Both of your starting tackles for a year that people think we could get to 10 wins are from Lincoln and Elkhorn, which everyone says is the hardest position to get guys here. We can talk bust rate all day long, but there's plenty of success stories as well.

Did Dylan not visit NU when he was ranked #1 Overall? Surprised by that if not.

Was Dylan ever 1 or just for a time the #1 QB?
Yes. At one point he was the No. 1 player by every service. He was the No. 1 composite player from June 2022 to July 2023 (his junior summer to his senior summer). I remember at one point he was tied with Trevor Lawrence as the highest ranked quarterback of the internet era because those were the only guys who were ranked No. 1 overall by every service.

Clearly Eichorst disliked Bo and was trying to kneecap him. I don’t have any inside info on this, but pretty clearly the case based on how everything went down.
I do (or did) and yes, there was definately discorse between Perlman/Eichorst and Bo, and there was a dick measuring contest going on between those two sides. The trend was to give Bo just long enough rope to hang himself.

How is Malachi doing now

staff sure is betting big on this weekend

win/win going away. nebraska off and rolling and jumps into top 20 and a big launch pad for 2027 and 28 recruiting

lose- maybe you salvage some momentum

get rolled - gonna be a 70 page "is rhule the guy" thread on RSS by Monday

Nebraska really needs to figure out how to get these kids. There's a couple of the tweener types every year. Put'em on the juice and send them to Donnie and we have a slew of homebred OL.
