Donovan will be one of the top DBs in the conference the next few years, so let's hope that's all just talk from Cockeye.

Will the Cockeye coaches even be there still by the time Darion gets on campus? Ferentz is so close to the end I wouldn't be surprised to hear his retirement announcement at any time.

This is what I keep hoping. Prior to this year, I had heard that Darion was the better prospect between the two....

Donovan is a stud, will start next year in Ceyair’s spot, and will be an nfl player.

He isn’t transferring to Cockeye so let’s just put that to bed now and move on.

Darion's mom is a "Husker" fan, but his dad is a pretty big Cockeye fan. My sister is fairly close with his mom.

I heard a couple of fun stories over the weekend about Darion's recruitment. Cockeye St was another school that was recruiting Darion pretty hard prior to his commitment to Cockeye. Immediately after the Cockeye St v Cockeye game - Darion was sitting on his coach watching the coaches shake hands - Darion got a text message. It was from Jon Heacock, Cockeye St's DC. I can't remember exactly what the texted said, but it was extremely passive aggressive about his decision to go to Cockeye.

Darion was shocked and didn't know what to say back - the game hadn't even been over for 5 minutes. He showed his dad the text and his dad told him that the coaching community is pretty tight- knit and you don't want to burn any bridges. So Darion just texted back something along the lines of "Congratulations...great win." Almost immediately Heacock fired back with another passive aggressive text. The Jones family was very unimpressed with Heacock's actions.

Apparently Cockeye has continued to tell Darion that they are going to target Donovan in the portal and that they will get him to Cockeye too. I'm not saying that there is tampering, per se, but that's what they are telling Darion. And their mom also didn't make it sound like Donovan is unhappy and will be entering the portal or anything.

Edited my original post. Accidentally said that their dad is a Husker fan. He is not. He is an Cockeye fan.

1. The class is very small because we have about 90 players who are freshman or sophomores in eligibility
2. IMO the instate players we weren't interested in are generally not P2 caliber

I would say Jensen and Jones were the only ones they truly recruited. Dayton Raiola took the QB spot, so that's why Thomallia was out. We had other TEs we liked as much or more than Jensen and we got one of those. Burbach, Van Seggern ad Wheeler we just seemed to have very little interest in. I think we liked Rule more than Wheeler and we were just taking 1 RB. The two OL? The room is loaded - and big - already. I don't think the coaches saw either one as a guy who could beat out anyone they took in the 26 class.

There also has been speculation that Rhule may now feel that, generally, well-regarded Nebraska players just won't pan out all that well if they come to Lincoln. It's based on the track record. Also that with the 105 limit here there will be a lot fewer Nebraska kids.

Not at all what I expected this guy to look like..

he is elite, my wife went to nursing school with his daughter, I should have parlayed that from coaching youth football to getting on at ISU.
