Nuku Mafi from Salt Lake City (Utah) West became the latest selection for the 2024 Polynesian Bowl on Wednesday.
The three-star prospect has seen his recruiting stock rise considerably this year and, following standout performances through the first half of the season, has now added another major accolade to his mantle with the addition to the prestigious all-star game.
Mafi, one of the top line prospects out West and a player who shined at a number of offseason events this year, is the nation’s No. 61 rated interior offensive lineman and No. 8 overall prospect in the state of Utah for the 2024 class, per the 247Sports rankings.
On the recruiting front, things are about to get busy for the talented blocker. Utah (Sept. 23) and Nebraska (Sept. 30) are in line to draw officials before the calendar page turns to next month, and then Oklahoma State is slated to get Mafi on campus in mid October. USC, which impressed Mafi on an unofficial a couple months back, also could be a visit destination.
Although Mafi appears to be taking his time with the process, with a late-year commitment on the agenda, he has continued gathering information on possible suitors.
The 6-foot-4, 295-pound Mafi sets a really strong base at the point of attack and uses his hands well to fend off pash rushers, making him one of the more physical blockers in the region. Mafi is a balanced lineman who shows good athleticism in pass protection and the nimble mobility to hit the second level on run plays.
“As far as a decision time frame, we’ll see what happens,” Mafi told 247Sports recently. “I might do it early, but nothing is final. I know my own deadline is December during the Early Signing Period; I know I want to commit by then.”
