Sell me Monken

If you’re Turd though, how would you sell that to the fans & boosters? The ones who are keeping that streak alive and paying for the new facility and likely south stadium.

If it got too far, could it be a situation where Tennessee was about to hire Schiano and boosters backed the AD up to rethink it?
That is the biggest reason why I don't think it will happen. How do you sell boosters and fans on it?

I know a fair bit about service academies, specifically Navy.

The biggest issues are always:

-Overall team speed

-The whole serve in the military bit which isn’t for everyone

-OL/DL. At all service academies you have to meet strict weight requirements. Football players get a special waiver but as soon as they are done playing they have to lose that extra weight as quickly as possible. Crash dieting is how it is done and from what I have heard it suuuuuuucks.
How is recruiting for them?

Like are they on the road a lot or do they get a lot of guys who are football players who want to be in the Army?

What were his systems like at Georgia Southern? I know that was ten years ago at this point, but it looks like those teams were pretty successful. Was he running the same antiquated offense there?

EDIT: Nevermind I just found their stats. They passed the ball less than 100 times total in 2012. Hiring him would be insane.

Conspiracy Theory - Machiavellian Turd

1. Turd wants Urban or Rhule
2. Knows the Holier than Thou crowd wont like Urban, so focuses on Rhule
3. Floats Monkey Tits as backup to put fear into hearts of fans
4. Rhule falls through
5. Turd offers Boosters dilemma, if you guys want to go back to the old days and run the option, I got Monkey Tits right here for you
6. Boosters suddenly dont have holier than though attitude and write 15 million check to Urban

Thats how the fanfiction plays out in my head at least. Monkey Tits after an 3 month search just cant be real.
Turd better play it right this time or it will fail miserably with a risky hire. He won his bet with the MF'ers and got Frost fired this year.

But after rumors of Rhule, then possibly Urban, we have to settle for a G5 coach?

Hell, if all else fails with the targetted coaches just hire someone like Gundy, DeBoer or Hermann and forget about the last one's baggage.

No, you can't sell me on him and I can't sell you on him.

And I'm not saying that he couldn't or wouldn't have "success" here. But my biggest problem is hiring Monken is a crystal clear indication of what Turd's/TC's priorities are - and it's not winning championships.

Monken makes no sense, so no matter what happens, I just wont believe that one until it happens. Maybe he is even using him so boosters will be like "Fuck I dont care about Rhule's Buy Out, lets pay him 10 million a year and Carolina can be off the hook."

Turd i think said at the start of the search, "We need to decide who we want to be." So maybe he is like, if you want to be cheap, lets just run the option and get Monken. Otherwise, poney up and we can go after Rhule again.

He was running the triple option there too. He came to GSU a number of years after Paul Johnson, FWIW, although there were a couple coaches between that.

Random nug from his last season there:

"In the final game of the season, against the Florida Gaytors, the Eagles upset the FBS Gaytors, 26–20, without completing a pass. The win marked the first time a FCS team defeated the Gaytors."

Georgia Southern will eventually fire Helton when he has a bad season because he's not running the triple option. Point being...yes he ran flexbone at GaSo. Everybody that has had success there did the same.
