Timeline:

- Rhule meets with Dana in the summer about a position, Dana doesn't come here
- Satterfield is the OC for 9 games after that.
- Dana, midseason, changes his mind, comes to Nebraska as a "consultant"
- Today, he's basically named OC.

Takeaway(s):

- Dana wasn't coming here unless he got the OC job.
- Rhule fired Satterfield last week in about the nicest way he possibly could, made public today.
- WE...ARE.....SO....FREAKING....BACK

I know Rhule finds a lot of criticism among fans, especially as of late. Such is the case of the HC of Nebraska. But this is just another impressive thing he's done. Usually when a team gets rid of their OC, they end up with some position coach getting his first shot at play calling. We just dropped ours and ended up with one of the better offensive minds of the past 2 decades calling plays. Will it work out? Time will tell. But still a hell of a move regardless.

Also, you have to admire Rhules loyalty. He knows he has a job to do and did it, but you could see it in him when he announced it how uncomfortable it made him to make it public that his friend is being demoted.

There's something to be said about a leader that's truly willing to do the hard stuff. If the wins follow as hoped, Rhule is going to have undeniable buy in.

It is a sign of panic. A move to keep the most talented freshman QB in the nation from either A) Getting Killed or B) Transferring
It’s a sign that Rhule holds everyone accountable. Just because you’re a friend doesn’t change the fact that the offense was stagnant and a change was needed. If a player isn’t cutting it on the field they get changed out.
