Sappy ass post

You'll be in that extremely fun toddler phase pretty quick. It starts around 12-15 months. We're at 20 months and it's probably the best period of their life before they become assholes.

Parent tip: Teach her ASL (sign language) starting now. Start simple like drink, eat, water, milk, more. It'll save you guys a lot of headaches when she's around 10 months when she can't verbally communicate her needs. We taught drink, eat, water, milk, more, please, thank you, bath, hat, ball, bye, sorry. Not only with us, but our parents know those basic ones, and the child watch at our YMCA. All our boys were able to start communicating at that 10-12 month mark.

Mine turns 2 next week, can confirm

This is really good advice. Hand up on this one for me, though. I didn't teach my kid shit, daycare did nearly all of it and we would reinforce at home. It was really amazing, it was almost overnight for us. His vocabulary wasn't as large as yours, but more, please, thank you, all done, eat, drink, are all really helpful.

Kind of a funny anecdote from my cousin about sign language I'll share. They went above and beyond with their sign language. Him and his wife are both Drs and obviously absolute brainiacs who take things too far, such as being so educated that you receive a doctorate. Anyway, his sign language vocabulary was something crazy, I'll say like 40 or 50 words and they'd try to teach him a few new words every week and were doing so well that they kind of lost sight of also focusing on his verbal vocabulary. Anyway, my cousin was trying to teach him the sign for bunny and repeating bunny over and over. In the next day or two, my cousin sees a bunny and tries to get his kid to do the sign for bunny. Kid looks at him dead in the eyes, and goes 'Yea, it's a bunny.' aka 'Dad, you idiot, use your words, that is a bunny.' Absolutely hilarious.

I would vote for 4-6 or 7 as best age.

Bump. Baby girl is now 8 months old as of yesterday. Crawling absolutely everywhere, slowly and a little spazzy, but still crawling. Trying to figure out her surroundings now and just trying to touch and grab everything now. The wife put child locks on cabinets and drawers yesterday.

She can say "mama" now. Very lively personality and smiles and laughs a lot. Never wants to sit still and that's certainly from me. Also beginning somewhat solid foods with different flavors.

Very healthy
My first girl is just 2 weeks old. I have a thoughtful 3 yr old boy and a tornado 2 yr old boy. I love every second of all of it!

My baby girl just turned 7 weeks old on Monday. She's figuring new things out every single day. She's at the point where she knows who me and mom are and smiles when she sees us. I do want a boy at some point but man it's pretty damn cool and fulfilling seeing your baby smile at you like that every day.

I don't like to get sappy on here or in life very often at all but I know I've talked about parenting on here before and just feeling real good about things right now.

Carry on boys and girls!
I have a 5 year old girl, a 2 year old girl and an 8 week old girl. Obviously I would have loved a boy, but I'm rocking this girl dad life. Love those damn girls so freaking much!

Having a girl is way cooler than anything I could have planned for honestly. We’ve started to discuss a second baby. Odds are it’ll be a boy but my daughter was also against the odds gender wise due to family genes so we’ll see what happens in round 2

Enjoy it man! I learned there’s nothing quite like your daughter smiling at you for the first time
While that's true, life is full of those moments. My 5 year old got a bike for Christmas. And taking her out and teaching her to ride it on Christmas day was definitely one of those moments. Just be present and enjoy the moment.

Agree completely. I took my 3 yr old muzzleloader hunting a few nights ago. His first ever witnessing of a deer harvest and he filmed it while I shot. One of the greatest moments of my life. Right up there with every other moment I spend doing things with my children. I’m soft when it comes to my kids and memories. I have to keep upgrading storage on phones bc I take so many pics and videos.

My youngest turned into an asshole right when he turned 1. Kids a fucking maniac and I love it.

Looking forward to that. However, last night was horrid. She's doing this thing the last couple weeks where she'll take her normal naps for about 45 minutes during the day, then will essentially refuse to go to sleep when it's bed time. She was colicy as a new born so maybe it's that again but I have no idea. All I know is I found myself downstairs on the couch at 4 AM this morning with her watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. She was ready to roll and loving it and I was trying to figure out how to not doze off.

That’s what we decided to do with Gujarati and Hindi.

My wife didn’t learn full English until around then. My Father in Law started teaching her the basics and then he hired a babysitter/English tutor for her. Literally was a babysitter first and foremost tho so it was a relaxed learning and eased my wife into English. By the time she was 6 she was fluent and got a perfect score on the entrance exam for the fancy private British school. (Her brother had to take it 3 times)

My BIL/SIL in Elkhorn tried Gujarati/English at the same time but quickly switched to just English and then later when the kids were older taught them Gujarati and Hindi. Right now all of the kids can speak all 3 languages.

My son can only say a few Gujarati words but he doesn’t even know it’s a different language. Example: he thinks the word “jay” means put your hands together cuz that’s what my MIL says then does when she does her Hindu prayers. So if he hears somebody say Blue Jay or something he repeats only the word “jay!” and then slaps hands together and closes his eyes. It’s hilarious when it randomly happens, like when he met our neighbor lady “Jaydon” he just yells “jay!” And claps and closed his eyes. Still makes me laugh out loud thinking of it.

my kiddo got a gizmo watch for Christmas. I don’t know why but that first time seeing a text message from your kiddo is one of the weirdest damn feelings.

Really hit me in the feels too, he said “Hey dad, you smell like poop. Bye dad”

My youngest turned into an asshole right when he turned 1. Kids a fucking maniac and I love it.

Our middle wasn't until around 3-4 years old, he'll be super sweet, loving and caring, then 1-2 times a day he'll turn into an asshole monster. Now it's like he enjoys seeing what it takes for us to get mad, ignoring or redirecting him he intensifies being an asshole.

Also I think he loves physical pain. He'll press our 11-year old (who is 4x his body weight) by pushing and hitting until the 11-year hits or pushes back. He'll cry for a few seconds then he goes harder. We had to take away his play football helmet because he was literally running into walls or furniture. We might have to skip flag football.

That song definitely hits different now days.

This is the one that gets me. I can't count how many times he's repeated me or just followed me around to watch what I'm doing trying to learn.

One of the funnier moments is he asked what I wear to bed and he asked about underwear and a shirt. I told him I get hot at night so no shirt to stay cool and I like to free ball so no underwear. A couple nights later he was getting ready for bed with mom and proclaimed that it's only shorts tonight because he wants to "free ball and stay cool like dad." I absolutely lost it. Since it was funny to me I heard him tell both grandmas, his preschool teacher, and gym child watch teacher that he's a "free-baller".

Great song. One of the reasons I hope our next is a boy. My dad and I are super close and I would like to experience a bond like that. As an adult, I catch myself doing and saying a lot of the same things I saw my dad do and say while I was growing up. Kinda wild to be honest lol

Most nervous about this to be honest. I only have a girl cousin in my immediate family and the rest are boys. I'm an only child. Pretty much clueless on raising a girl. I have a very thin patience with a lot of things and I just feel like I need to be better about that as my daughter gets older. I see it in my buddy's 3 year old and god damn does she push limits with him.
"Pushing limits" is a three year-old's job.......... 😎
