Someone mentioned this guy on RRS. Holgorsen’s WR at Houston 21-23, WR coach at Kentucky this season.

As someone who follows UH closely, he’s ok but I’d hope we can do better. Decent developer but so so as a recruiter. Had a couple of wins on the trail in Matthew Golden and Jonah Wilson (Harrison-Pilot was a legacy so he was always going to end up a Coog even though it didn’t work out with Fritz) and did a decent job developing guys like Tank and Manjack, but he’s closer to a Barthel than a Knighton imo if that makes sense. His first year at UK doesn’t look like he won anybody impressive for an SEC school.

Young coach with limited experience. Significantly more then GM so upgrade if true but that’s a low bar lolIMG_0210.jpeg

When is the RB coach getting canned?
My issue with Barthel is that he isn't from a recruiting hotbed like TX, GA, FL or California. He's from NJ and was most recently coaching at UCONN.

IMO your RB and WR coaches need to be your best recruiters. Young energetic guys that put up road and flight miles. IIRC when we were recruiting Kewan Lacy out of Dallas, we sent McGuire down there to help Barthel close it (bc Barthel doesn't speak Texan like someone who's from there).

Your RB/WR coaches and DB coach for that matter should be bringing in HS recruits based on their local knowledge. Those 3 spots need to be your work horses. We got Barthel from NJ and Butler from Philly. I just feel like we need the Dallas-Houston-ATL-Nola-Miami zones covered a little bit better than we do know. Travis Fischer was kind of the prototype for what you want - he has tons of ins with HS coaches in the southeast.

We really haven't bagged any big NJ recruits thus far (yes I know we've gotten amazing players from NJ in the past). The big guns are coming out of the sun belt now.
