Would be thrilled with either. Gun to my head though I will take #2ndChoice. Like his BIG experience and that he has beat 8 ranked teams while at Cincy.

Glad the board agrees with #2ndChoice. Love his resume. I’d be happy with both

I avoid recency bias to a fault and I just can’t get the memory of #2ndChoice’s 6-6 at OSU and those fans hating him out of my mind. Don’t get me wrong, #2ndChoice would be a great hire but if I had the choice, give me Rhule

He was interim coach that year and was 38 years old. The fans didn’t hate him, they knew the situation the program was in coming off Tressel gate.

#2ndChoice could poach some Cincinnati players and recruits. Rhule doesn’t have any players or recruits to poach right now and has been out of the college game for 3 full years. Give me Fick

Yeah I don't hold that season against #2ndChoice at all.

Always players to be poached but knowing how they practice, that they're not dumbasses, etc is a real advantage.

Again, I’d be happy as a clam with the hire. But the way I see it - Rhule = Power 5 proven. #2ndChoice = G5 proven and only body of work in P5 didn’t go well.

Agreed i wouldnt be upset with Rhule. But Rhule was a P5 coach in the Big 12(borderline P5) for 3 years and went 19-20. I’m aware of the 11 win season but worried that could have been lightning in a bottle. He did leave after that season after all.

I like the sustained success #2ndChoice has had at CU. It proves it wasn’t/ isn’t a fluke.

#2ndChoice at Cincy:
2017: 4-8
2018: 11-2
2019: 11-3
2020: 9-1
2021: 13-1 (CFP loss to Bama)
2022: 9-2 (so far)

That’s a lot of winning

Cincy also lost 9 (!!!) players from the CFP team to the draft which is batshit for a G5 roster and four or five are getting solid minutes as rookies. All program guys too, i believe.

When you see that in the G5 usually those teams have to rebuild over a few years. Cincy isn't amazing this year but the fact that they're competing for a NY6 spot is pretty remarkable.

I'd be fine with either, but I'd take Rhule for the rebuilding experience (although what Tuberville left at Cinci wasn't spectacular).
