I’d be surprised if Mickey has been formally interviewed by Rhule but maybe Mickey doesn’t want to be or Rhule won’t even entertain it.

If Rhule can hit it off with him I’m not sure why you wouldn’t want MJ on staff. He would seem to only be a positive asset

Everyone that knows MJ, knows that isn't him. He's about as genuine as genuine can get. I hope he gets a legit interview with coach Rhule.

This was last week so things can and likely did change. Probably for the best, because the first sign of trouble and people will be clamoring for MJ.

This is what it comes down to IMHO. I guarantee you this is Rhule's thought process. Mickey developed 2 of the top 5 WRs in pro football now. And in Palmer he took a guy who was a reserve WR/PR and turned him into a 1000 yd receiver and likely 3rd round pick in the NFL draft.

Based on resume, Rhule is not going to find a better WR coach. BUT... Rhule can't have the distraction of all of the fans clamoring for Mickey at the first 2 game losing streak. Then you have Priscilla likely throwing shade and tweeting dumb stuff. Rhule just cannot afford the distraction.

It sucks bc we will be getting a WORSE WR position coach. But if I were Rhule I'd do the same thing. It unfortunately is worth hiring a worse WR coach to avoid the danger that could be ahead for Rhule's regime. Sucks but it's how it has to go.

PS - I selfishly hope that Rhule finds a way to make it work with Mickey. The other downside is Mickey is probably coming and stealing your Omaha recruits from you, so OTOH that is also a problem Rhule doesn't need (Rhule being the "outsider who can't lock down the in-state recruits"). Rhule is kind of fucked either way.

That's the best move to cement the TX-LA recruiting corridor that I want NU to do.

As mentioned, if you let Mickey go and he goes to, say, KSU or Minnesota or even ASU... guess who's on a plane to Omaha every time Omaha has a 4* recruit? Now if you're Matt Rhule, you gotta fight extra hard for all your Omaha recruits. And we start this "NU coach can't secure the state" BS that we had w Frost.

If you keep Mickey, you lock down TX-LA + Omaha. (**BTW I mean this relatively, as we're still only getting scraps/leftovers in TX, but their scraps are 4*s! It's better than the zero recruiting we've been doing in TX sans Applewhite).

My biggest thing is Priscilla hates if here (allegedly) so I thought she'd push for a move.

I haven’t seen anything indicating she hates it here. I saw there was that singular incident at the restaurant but what else am I missing?

There is no red flag on either side, whether it pans out or not. It’s a time of transition, and men make decisions. It doesn’t have to be more than that.

You’re right, but keeping Mickey will make his life easier for various reasons with the transition. I also don’t buy Mickey will undermine him. Like you said it’s his show, so we will see.
