Both of them clear Holgorsen and Glenn Thomas at this time.Aidan Chiles was at Northwestern yesterday to see Chip Kelly and Jerry Neuheisel. They would seem to be the competition for Chiles at present.
Atkinson was one I thought of as well. We have at least some cursory interest as Barthel started following him a little while ago.one guy I was looking into as a possible second behind Minchey was Mercer’s kid, Braden Atkinson
Jerry Rice award winner, threw the hell out of the ball. I think he’s visited Notre Dame and is looking at Baylor also, and then some ACC schools as well. 3 years of eligibility
66% for 3600, 34/11
Stats don’t show he’s too mobile, but again I was looking at him as a 2nd option you take a chance on. Much higher risk for our current situation
Bonus: has a western Nebraska last name
Sims 2.0 has fewer career INTs than Raiola. He only threw 3 INTs last year. He just happened to throw 2/3s of them against us, which colors your perception.Would rather have him than Sims 2.0 (Chiles)
Not saying we don’t need another QB but we can be somewhat selective. What if he is not a competent QB? What if he gets injured?
Then what? Who else do we have?
Do we any other option behind him to save the season?
Can we “Minchey” another program?
Anyone know if:
Barnett III
Kienholz
Houser
…Have signed?? Or just committed?
There was talk of CJ Bailey, he decided to stay at NCState - can we tamper the hell out of him?
People are still blinded by Raiola as some great qbSims 2.0 has fewer career INTs than Raiola. He only threw 3 INTs last year. He just happened to throw 2/3s of them against us, which colors your perception.
I think the main difference in our pursuit of Chiles and Minchey is that Chiles will want to go to a school where he knows he's the starter.Sims 2.0 has fewer career INTs than Raiola. He only threw 3 INTs last year. He just happened to throw 2/3s of them against us, which colors your perception.
Nebraska gives vibes of the struggling SMB rep that fails to have customers sign with them in the meeting so they set the docusign to resend the document 2-3 times a dayOther schools make their commits sign electronically immediately.
Ours tell us they have to print out the paperwork, find their favorite pen, sign and return in 3-5 business days and we say “cool cool” cause we are retarded.
Lateef is clearly not ready to be a starter right now. Maybe in a couple years.I think the main difference in our pursuit of Chiles and Minchey is that Chiles will want to go to a school where he knows he's the starter.
Because of Lateef I'm not sure Nebraska offers that. I really don't know that for sure, but seems that way.
Does the Minchey betrayal (that's what it should be referred to for historical accuracy) change our strategy? Will we be willing to risk pissing off Lateef now?
Regardless of what Rhule said publicly, there’s a 0% chance Minchey was coming here to potentially not start.I think the main difference in our pursuit of Chiles and Minchey is that Chiles will want to go to a school where he knows he's the starter.

you can't make anyone sign - I know you know that. You might make it harder to stall for very long with electronic signatures, but if they're not ready to sign they just might let you terminate your offer.Other schools make their commits sign electronically immediately.

I think a lot of the Texas Tech offers are “exploding” offers. Basically the offer is only good if they sign in the room. You have to come correct with the money part of the equation if you do that. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Kentucky offer to Minchey was similar to that.you can't make anyone sign - I know you know that. I really think the only thing docusign would have done is expose that we weren't his real first choice sooner. He was clearly waiting on Kentucky as Stein had told him he was number two on their board. We were the back-up plan.
It would have been better to know we were second choice a little earlier, but it wouldn't have given us a better selection at QB, it appears. Just the same guys were are looking at now, just sooner.
I'm sure there's a way to smoothly tell him he's going to be the starter and then if he totally underperforms, you move Lateef ahead of him.I think the main difference in our pursuit of Chiles and Minchey is that Chiles will want to go to a school where he knows he's the starter.

BTW, why do we believe we aren't using docusign and didn't do so in the case anyway? I'd be absolutely shocked if this wasn't done electronically. We likely knew he was stalling for some reason. Nobody does this stuff with paper any more.
They sure operate like they are poorIt doesn’t matter. We are watching the titanic sink in slow motion.
Might have to do it for 2 years because Nebraska might be poor.
Nebraska still doing fax machinesOther schools make their commits sign electronically immediately.

I don't know why its so hard for people to understand this. Hey Minchey/Chiles/Insert Transfer you are going to be our starter. But then in the spring if Lateef is suddenly Lamar Jackson you start him and who cares about Minchey/Chiles/Insert Transfer. Its not lying, thats football. Paying them is just a sunk cost.I'm sure there's a way to smoothly tell him he's going to be the starter and then if he totally underperforms, you move Lateef ahead of him.
Something about the sound of that signing rolling inNebraska still doing fax machines
We couldn't have been completely caught off guard because he delayed the OV and was stalling on the signature. But the info that’s been put out there makes it sound like we were caught completely off guard even though he delayed signing over the weekend.
