Replacement QB Options For Minchey

Maybe, but the kid weighs 180 pounds and he won't last an entire season. He couldn't get through 3 games as a starter without being hurt. On top of his lack of durability is the fact that he isn't good.

NU has to overpay for 1 QB and then pay market value for a QB to add depth.

RB is not a position they need to pay for. For the fiscally constrained folks on this board who want a RB and do not want to overpay for a roster, then you need to compromise on wants to overpay for needs. OL/DL/LB/QB are absolute needs. You need to overpay for those positions to be competitive next season.

I'm not arguing any of that. Just adding a little TJ levity.

It’s funny because everyone says that the portal is great because it allowed all of the schools to pay players like the SEC. But that’s only true if you are willing to pay players like the SEC.
Exactly this! The SEC is conditioned to pay for players and have for years. Everyone else has to come to grips with the cost of doing business.

It’s just really hard to agree on the running backs. Our top returning guy had 147 yards last year, which was all of 27 yards more than the backup qb who started only 4 games.

We saw how much different the running game looked without EJ. I think we are going to face a harsh reality if we decide to try rolling out there with guys who would be depth pieces anywhere else in the conference.

Ironically, RB is then one position where this year we could legitimately sell a guy in the portal that we could make things happen for him. And we apparently aren’t going to even take a shot at it.

QB Targets Ranked by ME:
1. Leavitt
2A. Lagway
2B. Chiles
3. Pribula
4. Put in your G5/FCS Starter or P4 Backup Here (If none of the 4 above, nothing matters)

I would rather pay $2 million for Chiles and then put that extra $1 million toward a RB, OL/DL, LB than pay that much for a guy who has 26 pass attempts in three years.

Minchey is more likely to be the next Jeff Sims than he is Joe Burrow.
Unfortunately for us, our coaches feel good about the current state of affairs in the RB room lmao

Ain't a single other p2 school any of our RBs would start at.

I only disagree with looking at cumulative yardage. That was constrained by the choice to only play on RB. Look at YPC and you'll see that there isn't much of a dropoff.

I think EJ left A LOT of yards on the field because of his vision. I think EJ was very good for us, but I don't think he's irreplaceable with what's currently on the roster. I think combination of Nelson/Mozee/Ives/Rule can rush for 1500 yards.

Conor Booth erasure

I think there is a very real chance we end up with a QB better than Minchey actually. It’s just not necessarily the plan. It seems to me the staff was being very intentional with what they wanted to pay a transfer QB in relation to where they were projecting needing to allocate money.

We’ll get a transfer QB with some tangible evidence that he’ll be good, what will be more unclear is what we weren’t able to get because we used up our funds.
