Idk if you haven’t been following along but it’s pretty clear Nebraskas not in the business of outbidding teams at the moment
We all need to come to terms with the fact that Chiles is going to be the guy and cross our collective fingers that we can make some semblance of headway with the rest of the roster.

Nah this program is cooked. Pretty clear the big boosters aren't willing to pony up real money for players. Instead they are going to wait around for 5-10 years and hope that some semblance of a regulatory body reigns in the spending. Then they can say they were on the up and up.

This is not an accurate statement. He's not competent in any observable way.
I don't know, Bootleg. I want to win but a guy like Minchey isn't worth the $3M KY is paying him this year and it would be a bigger PR disaster to pay him that much than the Minchey flip was.
Very true, just curious how much Utah is paying him. How much were we paying Dylan? I don't know the full numbers, but I'd be all for tampering to get Dampier as loved watching him play.
He may not be, but rest assured, he definitely let out a big "Hell Yeah" once the Minchey news broke.
I would rather pay $2 million for Chiles and then put that extra $1 million toward a RB, OL/DL, LB than pay that much for a guy who has 26 pass attempts in three years.
Minchey is more likely to be the next Jeff Sims than he is Joe Burrow.
And I think our reputation is preceding us. The word is out that Nebraska is not some place you come to get paid. (And that would be easier to swallow if we had something else to sell them, but, you know).
It’s funny because everyone says that the portal is great because it allowed all of the schools to pay players like the SEC. But that’s only true if you are willing to pay players like the SEC.
I used to think we were getting a a bad rap from a certain section of fans. But the evidence is growing that we really are not a major player in the portal.
Looked pretty good against UCLA and was thrown into a shot sandwich after that.
Not saying he’s the next Sam Keller but we are at least starting this looney tunes portal season with some starting experience in the room.
I know people are down right now, but look at the bright side. Next year was probably going to be a total failure even with a good portal class. Now you have a 10 month head start on the grieving process. If done correctly you can be numb to the pain of getting raped every week.

I wish I could get paid $2M to play as poorly as Chiles did last year.
I still have some eligibility left, I might give it a try.

nil is great for the big 10.
Nebraska wasn’t one of those schools.
Indiana, Illinois, Michigan state, Northwestern, and wisconsin(if they can figure it out) will feast.
Those schools are incredibly rich and have received some crazy donations the past year or two.
Maybe, but the kid weighs 180 pounds and he won't last an entire season. He couldn't get through 3 games as a starter without being hurt. On top of his lack of durability is the fact that he isn't good.
NU has to overpay for 1 QB and then pay market value for a QB to add depth.
RB is not a position they need to pay for. For the fiscally constrained folks on this board who want a RB and do not want to overpay for a roster, then you need to compromise on wants to overpay for needs. OL/DL/LB/QB are absolute needs. You need to overpay for those positions to be competitive next season.
Next year could be the worst team we’ve had this century.
