We ghosted a 4 star pass rusher with SEC offers because we don’t think we can take 3 edges in this class numbers wise.

It's even more dumb than the that, its sounds like the reason they didn't take Williams is they told Noonan that they are only taking 2 Edge guys (him and hopefully Lenhardt) and they don't want to break their word to Noonan.

Yes, but one is a legacy connection from the state of Nebraska. Telling Noonan we’re only taking two and then take three, which results in Noonan leaving, would make Nebraska look bad in front of other legacy prospects.
Honestly, whatever with Williams. It’s a 4 star high school prospect from the SEC area; how many of those panned out for us? Maybe he does well, maybe he ends up flaking out and we don’t hear about him again until the next “2023 High School Edge rushers: where are they now?”

Maybe don't be idiots and tell players at one of our weakest positions in the last 15 years that you're going to take a limited number of them because then you end up not being able to pressure the QB regularly and win like 4 games a year. Idk just spitballin

My guess is the staff had a conversation with Lenhardt, and if he would shut down his recruitment (which Williams wasn't doing) they'd just move to him.

Maybe but I think Lenhardt's been the guy the whole time and Wiliams committed without the coach's approval, none of the coaches acknowledged his commitment like the other commits. So, they have had to wait and let this whole Auburn thing play out with Williams and now Lenhardt should be committing soon.
