Reason #329 for avoid cruise ships

Went on a cruise for our honeymoon. Haven't been on one since. Alaskan cruise would be the exception as many have said but even that isn't top priority for future vacations.
Did this and it was fantastic. 8 days on land and 7 on ship. I would have preferred to have been mostly land and air though. I was ready to get off that boat for good by the end. As a family trip though, probably best way for us to have done that way.
There was a big group from Atlanta on my cruise. Super annoying people with the worst southern accent imaginable. The accent that sounds like they are borderline mentally challenged. I contemplated ways to sink the ship.
I have an accent as well and grew up surrounded by southern accents of course. Today's accent is so weird. Folks from back home seem to be trying to out accent each other. Nancy Grace syndrome or something. It is so outrageous it sounds fake to me. I haven't a chance in hell to get rid of mine, but I'm not leaning into it either. It bothers me that people I've known my whole life sound different now.

Have enjoyed every one I’ve been on without exception. Neither one of us have ever gotten ill….but we only go higher end lines. Normally Viking both river and ocean.

I like being able to unpack once, and have your ocean-front hotel room visit numerous destinations. All the top shelf hooch you can drink, and some pretty amazing food…To each their own.

I think about 90% of the passengers on our disney cruise got sick the first night from the waves. My daughter and I felt absolutely nothing but my wife was puking her guts out for a few hours. She was also on that nausea stuff they give you.

Dude…It’s Disney. It’s packed with rug-rats…talk about a floating petri dish. Go Viking or Virgin…no kids allowed…never had a single issue. The flights over to catch the ship are a far bigger issue, even flying business class.

I have been on two cruises. Both were fun. Of course, I paid for neither (family cruise on my parents dime for all of us), so that helped. But I enjoyed both cruises. The first was a larger Carnival ship I believe. This was back around 2004ish. Kids were quite young then, both mine and my brothers, so of course with kids it changes the equation. That said, there was a lot of stuff the cruise had for kids where you could leave them attended for several hours.

The 2nd cruise was also a family cruise, but just adults. It was on what is now the 2nd largest cruise ship.... something of the Seas. I enjoyed it. There's a ton to do, I enjoyed the pretty high end Vegas type of shows. The day stops were all good. We did get the drink package on that cruise and used the hell of out it.

I enjoy all you can eat formal dinners. You want another lobster and/or prime rib? Yeah, bring me a 4th, please. This cruise was in Jan of 2020, right before anyone knew what covid was - got lucky we missed that Covid lockdown window by like a month or two. Never got sick on either cruise.
All that being said, if those two cruises weren't paid for I probably wouldn't have gone. My parents have been on at least one cruise per winter for at least 30 years (probably longer than that honestly). Often two cruises a winter, sometimes they have even done 3. They love it. They have also travelled pretty much the entire world. The missed their China trip 6 years ago or so when my grandmother was quite ill (she is still kicking, will be 100 in early Feb of next year), and at this point China is out for them. They often align cruises with longer trips - like a Med cruise along with a Europe trip.

If I’m going somewhere in the states I’ll even drive instead of flying. I enjoy driving and I love being able to see different parts of the country.

I used to do that a lot, but now I’m all over the place and it’s not an option due to time constraints.

I didn’t mind it at all, and in the right settings it’s really relaxing.

Having been to and through Atlanta many, many times for business, I think you can remove the term ‘Borderline’ from the bolded.

They’re either marble mouthed dipshitz, or pretentious southern assholes.

Great menu to choose from.
