Ravi on: Our Current Program Status

Yup. I'm sure he's a great member of the community & a good guy IRL, but the most pedantic guy ever who is every stereotype about boomers x 100 & sucked the life out of that place.

You’re exactly right.

He is a great dude, but he’s got zero tolerance for anyone with a sense of humor and sees the board as an extension of his kitchen table and isn’t good with that stuff around his kids.

Well said.

Outside of being a significant booster what you do isn't going to change anything. You can imagine it matters that you give up your season ticket but someone else will buy it. Something will be done before season tickets are actually affected.

If you want to be positive great. If you want to be negative that's also fine. It's basically life. There's people that enjoy life and there's people that focus on what's wrong with it.
Have you considered sending a strongly worded email to the AD?

Finally, a nice string of good conversation and debate in this thread and not just useless bitching.

I’m willing to be more patient with Rhule because making postseason play the last two years is a big deal. Under Frost, by year three we had three straight losing seasons—and yet he still had plenty of defenders. Rhule walked into a much worse situation than many want to believe. Has the progress been “good enough” for everyone? No, and I’m disappointed too. But it’s still progress, and that matters.

Patience isn’t popular these days because everyone wants instant gratification, but sometimes it pays off. I felt the same way about Hoiberg—I feel like I was one of the few on this board who wanted to give him time to figure things out after leaving college for the NBA and then coming back. Different situation, sure, but the principle is the same: sometimes you have to let a guy work through it.

With the recruiting class we have lined up for 2027, is blowing up the program really worth the risk? Do we want to start over and jeopardize that momentum—or would a little patience and letting things play out be the smarter move?
I will absolutely always error on the side of continuity and advocate for it. Now, if by year 5 you still don't have a winning record to your name you need to go. But Rhule if he can keep getting us to bowl games needs to stick around. I just thought he'd get us to 8 this year.

Now, I will say keeping a coach to not blow up a recruiting class a year away is something I will always disagree with. The Red Reign guy got so mad at me when Mike Riley was getting ready to get fired because it would "kill our 2018 class" that had guys like Bookie in it. Told him that doesn't matter at all. Now in the portal era it matters even less.

I always back the program until its pretty obvious the coach is getting fired. I dont understand how someone could be out on Rhule now. Concerns? Sure, but out? He likely isnt getting fired for at least 2 seasons. You are just gonna sit around and bitch for like 24 months? That just does not sound fun. Thats 2 years of life.

I miss the days where the negative crowd was getting upset about 49-21 wins where the other team scored a later TD with our 3rd string in. I still believe it can happen. One day.

Problem is the group that bitches about everything is never going to do something different.

Keep him, fire him, doesn’t matter.

The next guy will be as big a problem to them

IMO, Rhule has put himself in a position to be doubted given numerous factors (staff choices, talent evaluation, lack of success against ranked opponents, terrible November record, etc.).

That said, I don’t think any Husker fan wants anything but for him to win. However, it is not the fan’s fault for letting their eyes be the deciding factor of their monetary choices, not their hearts.

To me, Ravi’s statement reeked of the same sentiment that allowed the sins of Frost to continue unmentioned and unaddressed.

Fans and media have been much more critical of Rhule than Frost, even though Rhule has more wins in 3 years vs Frost in 5.

Critical thoughts are worthy of both due to the production-based business they are in. To absolve the latter because of the improper reaction to the former (by some) makes no sense.

My comment was in reaction to your last sentence. Maybe more of a critique of media.

I have been critical of Rhule (and was very critical of Frost). Poor hires, ignored the portal for the DL last year and I'm very concerned about the DL & RB this year.

I think a lot of his hires have made sense just didn't work out.

The only one I don't get at all was Satt

What about:

Doogie
Drunk TE corch
Rusty Dvoracek
Terry B
Uncle Donny
Foley
Buttler (as DC, not DB)

I guess nobody knew Foley would be as bad as he was, but all the others mentioned above were real head scratchers, or at least should've been.

Edit: I spose Uncle Donny "made sense" in a sense, but many were angry about it
