Ravi on: Our Current Program Status

What about:

Doogie
Drunk TE corch
Rusty Dvoracek
Terry B
Uncle Donny
Foley
Buttler (as DC, not DB)

I guess nobody knew Foley would be as bad as he was, but all the others mentioned above were real head scratchers, or at least should've been.

Edit: I spose Uncle Donny "made sense" in a sense, but many were angry about it
If it wasn't obvious, I meant on paper

Doogie? I actually thought he did ok, but this one is probably fair.

TE coach, looked like a great hire for connections to Texas... Who knew he'd drive drunk? Did you?

Dvoracek? Come on. NFL Plus P4 twice? Obviously a good hire on paper

Bradden again, NFL coach for one of the best lines in the league?

Donnie he didn't hire but kept, but we all know why

Foley decades of experience.

Butler, maybe...but again tons of experience and you think working with him for a year he saw what he was.

Drunk TE guy - it had been mentioned that he didn't seem cut out for the position while he was at Nebraska based on interactions with him and performance prior to him getting in trouble.

Dvoracek - P4 twice? What? He was a QC guy at Baylor.

Bradden - zero recruiting connections, joined staff late, zero p5 experience, assistant to the assistant DL corch in NFL. BAD!

Already kind of addressed Foley & Uncle Donny.

Butler - couldn't get hired anywhere as a DC until Rhule promised him the job.

Which moderator’s personality does the tPB mimic? Who be the big dawg?
This place has a big dawg moderator? huh, didn't realize that.

Overall...while lately full of crash out mashed potatoes, this place polices itself pretty well I think.

Pretty revisionist. Especially Dvoracek

100% this is a thing. Differing opinions get translated to their extremes and then categorized as such. But not to be confused with the countless half sentence posts that are just a complaint. For example, “would be nice if we had a DL coach right now.” No fucking shit.

The debate is what all these places are for. The pessimistic drivel can GTFO as it does nothing but incite and clutter.

Take you and I and our pages of debates… I hope my side hasn’t come off as intolerant of your positions. You don’t make a message without it being thoughtful, which I appreciate. But we tend to always look at the situation from a different angle.

That said, of course I wished everyone would just be optimistic because that energy is so much better, but that’s not a reality. And I try to remind myself of that more often.
Well said. Where was your profile pic taken?

Truth. Some people just aren’t happy unless they are complaining or angry about something.
I used to get more upset likely because I enjoyed the glory years. But the further we’ve gotten from those years and the more coaches we’ve hired and fired, I’ve calmed down quite a bit.

Everything we’ve gone through has made me realize there is no magic quick pill. Indiana and Cignetti struck gold but it’s not the norm.

Throw in the portal and NIL and I’ve realized what a different world this is. We may never get back to being a top dog again. I still love watching all the games on Saturday but have found my enjoyment comes from seeing good games no matter where they come from. No matter how bad things get, I will always love and support my Huskers.

On Dvoracek, he seemed to do a good job when White was DC, nobody really did this past season. Could be talent, or that Butler’s system was a cluster**** and nobody knew what was going on, including the coaches.

The guy came from the NFL and had experience in a P4 program but that's not a good enough resume for a position coach? Come on.

Just the NFL experience alone is worthy enough for a position coach in college football
Yeah we've gotten excellent results hiring guys who get coffee for the actual position coach in the NFL and have little to no real college coaching experience.

At least with the TE guy we maybe could've leveraged his TX HS connections. The Uncle Donny, Bradden, Dvoracek types have been absolute cheeks for us.

I don't believe 99% of the people thought he needed to get extended. I figured he would get one, but I didn't want him to get it. Especially since you had to wait to give it to him because you got beat as double-digit favorites. Now that he has it, he for sure isn't going anywhere like Ravi said.

Agreed, no where close to 99% were in favor of that awful extension. But, yeah, with the extension, it makes it hard to fire him for a couple of years. Extension did nothing but put Nebraska into a worse position.

To be clear, I am older, but I’m Gen X.

Not arguing. Here is his resume all of which except 1 year has been with Rhule.

Baylor: Student assistant under Rhule 2017-2019

Lehigh: OLB/DE 2019-2020 - only stop without Rhule

Carolina: 2021 title coaching assistant, 2022 title defensive assistant

NU: 2023-now LB Corch

Seems extremely green to me and he would best fit as an assistant to an assistant coach who has the resume to both recruit and coach at B1G level. What LB is going to look at his background who is good and say this guy can develop me? A big reason why the LB room is a mess heading into year 4.

With Foley gone, I'm totally in the dark about barbecue joints and diners across the state. On the bright side I don't throw up in my mouth when special teams take the field.
