Post Game Presser

There was only one timeout. If you take it there sneak and don't make it clock runs out. I like that call to go quick. Then if you don't make it you can call a timeout and kick the FG.

Your 2nd and last are really the same thing. Other than that series it was a good mix. I didn't like that series either.

Agree Ervin should have been in the game.
I said they only had one timeout. Maybe I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure there were 30 seconds left. Immediate timeout, 30 seconds left. QB sneak, clock runs. You have 25 seconds to line up and spike it.

Just looked it up, there were 44 seconds when we snapped the ball that Ervin took to the one inch line. Easily have 30 seconds with an immediate timeout, probably 35.

I wanna say 11 seconds. If there was 30 then I agree.

Just edited, there were 44 when we snapped the ball that Ervin took inside the 1. Immediate timeout, probably would have had 35. I think you're thinking of 11 because we didn't take a timeout, took forever to line up, then had the false start and (I believe) a 10 second run-off.

There was confusion about if it was a TD. Should have been...

But that's Nebraska football. Left 14+ points on the board and got walked off on a field goal.

Would have to watch to see how much time would have been left had they called the timeout right away.

Purdy has been tested and he failed.

If Sims has another game like last night against Colorado I'll be happy to see Purdy though.
I get your point, and he did fail in the short time he played but IMO untested = unproven and risky, since he did not play for an extended period covering several games to prove himself as a backup QB.

Dear Lord, let's hope Sims doesn't get injured, and cuts on his INTs. We really don't have reliable backup QBs.

Would have had 22 or 23 seconds had they called it right away. Probably enough to sneak and then spike.

We're so lame. I pulled it up too.

I still kind of like the hurry up and sneak in theory. Last night I was yelling at them to take the timeout though.
You're right that it would have been 22 or 23 seconds and I think that would be just enough time for a spike and run another play.

It's easy to say in retrospect...I agree with you in theory but with how undisciplined we were playing, you have the ball well inside the 1 yard line, take the timeout imo. First, it forces extra time for the review. Doesn't change anything with the call but coaches will take a timeout sometimes in cases like that just to make sure it's looked at. Second I do think your OL is less likely to false start after a timeout vs. rushing to the line for a quick snap.

I can't even believe we false started there. Literally 7 points off the board in a game we scored 10 points in. And we did it again later which cost us a net 4 points. Unbelievable.

I am not giving up: I am just saying that so far he isn’t really doing any of the things he promised. Did you really leave last night’s game with a feeling that we were well coached?
When someone says they're potty training their kids, do you think it works right away? Would you accuse the parents of not doing what they say they're doing the first time their kid has an accident at the grocery store? Good habits take time and repetition. They also take failing for the lessons to really hit home.

With the review they probably get the timeout back too. That part is a hindsight is 20/20 thing though.

My biggest problem is at this point it looks like we’re being sold a bill of goods. Rhule said we were going to focus on the little things, limit turnovers, and be a good fourth quarter team. Lol
C’mon man. You expect that to magically happen in nine months of off-season with the same guys that have been making these mistakes for 3-4 years now?

It's not really the same guys though. Half the starters are new. 3 out of 4 of the turnovers were on Sims who is new.
Granted he'd been making those same mistakes at Georgia Tech I guess lol

Doesn’t automatically give him good players though
