1: RB is still confusing because, quite honestly, they all did something good on Saturday.

2: Is Fidone scared to put his all into blocking because of his knees? Is that in the back of his mind in those situations?

3: Will Corcoran '24 be Benhart '23?

4: Malachi Coleman could have really used some reps Saturday. He missed an opportunity to flash in a game where almost everybody was making positive plays. The schedule is not full of UTEPs so he is foolishly missing chances. Would anybody here complain if Barney got all of Malachi's reps moving forward? I don't buy that he was "banged up" because he wasn't on the availability report and Rhule said he was healthy. I seem to remember that lots of us were worried he was going to blow it as we now watch him actively blowing it.

5: We still don't know what we have at K and I can't decide if Saturday was good or bad for Alvano. I mean on the one hand he made all his easy kicks, but never had an opportunity to try a longer one but at the same time also didn't miss in a game where we didn't need him anyway. I can't decide what would have been better for him.

6: Outside of a good QB and two stud WRs isn't CU basically going to be the same as UTEP? Undersized lines. Lack of depth. Zero running game. Can't stop the run.

7: Satt called a pretty good game.

8: R Stewart looks like he'll slide into a starting safety role pretty easily if needed and will also be good to go next year.

9: Dylan is going to be solid all year by simply feeding Neyor or Banks based on which one has a favorable matchup. Simple formula.

10: I hope Haarberg gets a chance to bulldoze another CB like he did on purpose against UTEP. And I want that CB to be Travis Hunter. Grind his bones to dust then spray whats left of him off the field with a hose.

On the kicking game... I didn’t think Alvaro’s kicks looked like they popped off his foot very well. Extra points looked kind of slow and low. There were also a few snaps that weren’t the best either if I recall.

1. Agreed. But where I was concerned about the cluster in week 1, I'm less concerned now. Personally, I'd roll with Dowdell and EJ getting the bulk of the carries and RJ as your 3rd down back. Gabe got 2 TDs, but didn't really show me much.
2. I'm not hitting the panic button on Fidone yet, but we need to start seeing more out of him. All talk so far...
3. TC elevating his game to a Benhart level could make this a 10 win team. LT is my biggest concern on the offense. If we suddenly are above average there, I think we might have something cooking...
4. The depth at WR is insane. Amazing to have this problem where and all-world level type of player is out, and I didn't even realize it until after the game.
5. K still remains a huge question mark. Didn't learn anything after week 1...
6. Agreed. Outside of those 3 players, I legitimately think Colorado is worse than UTEP. Their LBs look to be some of the worst in the country and their OL got whooped by and decent FCS DL. Zero threat in the running game. The issue is that those 3 players are so elite that they can change the game in the blink of an eye...
7. No real issues with Satt on Saturday, assuming that we wanted to keep it pretty vanilla. I would have liked to see more crossing routes and screens on the perimeter.
8. I was legit worried about what our defense could look like next year with all of the experience we are losing (still am scared to be honest lol). But Stewart seems to be a bright spot for sure.
9. Dylan just seems so in control. Amazing to see out of a true freshman making his first start. Only going to get better...and I'd imagine we will start to see him look silly good at times.
10. Listen, I was arguing pretty hard that I was ok with the HH package. But that run was idiotic. Didn't even really truck the guy...it was just awkward. Offense seems complete enough that we don't need an HH package. Will I hate it if he does come in, probably not. That that run showed me that even in a simplified role, his decision making is still shit.

1: RB is still confusing because, quite honestly, they all did something good on Saturday. - And that's a GREAT thing. Last year we has 1 healthy RB. We got 4 who could each play an entire game and we'd be OK.

2: Is Fidone scared to put his all into blocking because of his knees? Is that in the back of his mind in those situations? - I thought he blocked better than he ran. The one trap play for the TD he came across the back field and took out the LB and it was an easy TD

3: Will Corcoran '24 be Benhart '23? 🙏🙏🙏 if this is the truth then we're gonna be really good. Really good.

= I still hold out hope for him. Not sure why he wasn't in the pass game in the 4th. Some people just never get it. I hope he does someday.

- Methnks we're gonna find out when we find out. I hope it's not this coming week and we dont need a game winning FG/

6: Outside of a good QB and two stud WRs isn't CU basically going to be the same as UTEP? Undersized lines. Lack of depth. Zero running game. Can't stop the run. - I didnt watch CU. All the highlights they look FAST. Just like last year. Last year we did not vs MINN. We did yesterday.

7: Satt called a pretty good game. - I thought so too. He also has a QB, 4 RBs and 4 WRs that he didnt have for most of last year.

8: R Stewart looks like he'll slide into a starting safety role pretty easily if needed and will also be good to go next year. - I was at a bar, so less focus on the play in play out game for me, but I did notice #32 appearing on the TV screen a few times. I consider that to be good.

9: Dylan is going to be solid all year by simply feeding Neyor or Banks based on which one has a favorable matchup. Simple formula. - I think he and those two are gonna have good games throughout. It's exciting again.

10: I hope Haarberg gets a chance to bulldoze another CB like he did on purpose against UTEP. And I want that CB to be Travis Hunter. Grind his bones to dust then spray whats left of him off the field with a hose. - They will get him in the game more. Not so much of a fan of the Taysom Hill play at the 6 yard line when even the broadcasters knew what was coming, but he's a big strong kid and gives 100%. I hope he decapitates Hunter.

Just my $.02 to yours.

I don’t see the advantage of splitting Raiola out wide for haarberg. If you want them both in the backfield so you can either one that’s one thing that Kansas is known to run.

+1

I've never understood that.
You're basically giving up a player when you do that.
Unless they some how throw a double pass, but I cant recall the last one of those i saw.

A few thoughts on yours and others:

1. Love what I saw out of the backs. I think Dowdell and Emmet are clearly ahead of Gabe and Rahmir as 'backs'. Didn't see much of rahmir receiving out of the backfield but I think we will as the season goes on. Knock on wood but I think we'll be getting a ton out of the position late in the season.

2. I think the TE screen stuff was really forced - as a coach I could see them using those guys on screens against UTEP knowing that more equipped receivers will be taking screens and we don't want to put that on tape (?) Get Fidone and Carter vertical. If they have wheels I'd rather they use them against linebackers and block on the perimeter

3. Line looked good. Interior is nasty. Grading Benhart and Corcoran as an incomplete until I see them saturday but I liked Corc in the run game.

4. Said this elsewhere but I think Malachi could start this year if injuries force him to. Better to preserve his redshirt as long as possible to get more important snaps if those are needed. Same can be said for Kaelin - didn't play either. I think the staff would have played him if they didn't trust him late in the season in case of injury. Benning too - did he play? Refusing to get Kaelin reps tells me that the competition for QB2 might be closer than we realize.

5. Kicking game was really rough. Bad snaps and looked funky coming off their feet. Didn't like what I saw in short yardage but if i did I'd worry about it less. 2nd and 30 conversion and the zone hole shots from Dylan tell me we'll need those guys less.

6. I called a secondary breakout game and Rahmir Stewart was the guy. Really disciplined in coverage and looks like a thumper.

7. On Dylan - he made the throws you want to see on tape when you're scouting 1st round picks. Arm slot stuff was nutty, touch and placement were astounding, and he looked really comfortable. Biggest knock will improve with time - struggled a bit with disguised coverage/zone. He's also a true freshman and he's further along than you'd like but that will result in his freshman moments. He's the betting favorite to be the 1st overall pick in the 2027 NFL draft. There is already enough tape to lock him into the first round. How incredible does it feel when God finally smiles upon this derelict, snakebitten program. Holy shit this kid is good. I can't stress it enough.

As I understand it from player insidehers, Coleman is a great kid, with great talent…is having a hard time picking up the full playbook. With the receivers that were brought in, they would rather redshirt and give him more time to develop that understanding.

For what it’s worth.
I don't want to dog on the guy, & hope he gets stuff figured out & is able to light up some secondaries for years to come, but he was an early enrollee in spring of 2023. If the playbook is still a big limiting factor a year and a half later at the WR position, that's not super encouraging.

You ain’t wrong.

Aaron Murray says our WRs are slow.

I kind of agree I wasn’t as high on our receivers as others were and I watched that whole video and the tape doesn’t lie. The blocking was especially atrocious at certain points. We might be surprised to find that our backs are a better room than the WRs as the season goes on.

That is my gut instinct, also.

If we hadn't picked up Neyor and Banks, Coleman would be getting a lot of snaps. This season - we don't need him as those two are better at the actual football play on the field, and both probably just as talented.

I am not out on Coleman, but he needs to clean things up. Sloppy/wrong route running, and many other small things (blocking, etc), can make a huge difference. He has the talent, and now the time, to get things cleaned up. He's talented, and I hope he stays N and by next season is a much better player for us.

Right. If we have the senior talent, no harm. Ideally, he can buckle down and figure it out.
