Ochaun Mathis, Los Angeles Rams, Edge
2016: Was a first-team all-district selection as a junior247sports.com
Looks like he's about 6'5 260 lbs. now. Good player.
Two-time All-Big 12 TCU defensive end Ochaun Mathis will enter the NCAA transfer portal, he announced Wednesday, confirming a breaking report Tuesday by HornedFrogBlitz's Jeremy Clark. Mathis appeared in 38 total games with the Horned Frogs with 34 starts since he arrived to the program in 2018.
"After much consideration, I have decided to make one of the very most difficult decisions, and that is to transfer from Texas Christian University," Mathis' statement read in part. "These last four years have been truly unforgettable and I want to thank everyone who has watched and supported me."
Mathis was second-team All-Big 12 selection in both 2019 and '20, and was a preseason first-team All-Big 12 selection ahead of the 2021 season. The former Manor (Texas) High standout was a three-star prospect in the Class of 2018 and was ranked the No. 44 weak side defensive end in Texas for that cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite Player Rankings. Mathis was the No. 103 overall prospect from Texas in that cycle, regardless of position. He committed to play for TCU in January 2017.
TCU is coming off a 5-7 finish to the 2021 season. The Horned Frogs parted ways with longtime head coach Gary Patterson after a 3-5 start before ultimately naming SMU's Sonny Dykes his successor in late November. A swath of other TCU players, including former five-star running back Zach Evans, have also hit the transfer portal since the season's end.
The NCAA introduced the transfer portal Oct. 15, 2018, providing athletes a path to explore their options. Players do not need to ask permission from their coaching staff in order to transfer. They merely need to request that compliance enter their name. Usually, it takes 24-48 hours for a player to appear following their request. Schools are free to contact a player without restriction once their name appears in the portal.
While a player entering their name in the transfer portal means they intend to explore their options, it does not necessarily mean they will leave. A player is free to withdraw his name at any time. However, schools are under no obligation to keep a player on scholarship once they enter the portal.
There were 2,646 FBS players to enter the transfer portal during the 2020-21 transfer cycle, sources said. That is up from 1,692 in 2019-20 and 1,717 in 2018-19.
$NIL money talking in his ear, no doubt.Want…but he already has 5 crystal balls to Texas.
Well shit
Isn’t this the guy other than Foster Sarrell that Cav took a big swing on and missed?
Second Biscuit - Staying with the transfer portal, over the weekend I also talked with sources regarding East Tennessee State transfer offensive lineman Tre'Mond Shorts, and also exchanged some messages with Shorts. He also has one year remaining and he played his prep career at Lovejoy (Ga.) High School. Shorts noted that his four main schools of interest include Mississippi State, LSU, Central Florida and Nebraska and he wants to visit all four schools over the next several days. He didn't say which day yet but said he would be officially visiting Mississippi State later this week. He didn't tip his hand as to an overall leader but knows of Mississippi State's need for transfer offensive tackles. He also noted that wants to get his decision made as soon as possible after these visits in order to get settled for his new school for the spring semester.

This suuuuuuucks. Could explain the 3 new transfer OL follows for the staff today.East Tennessee State offensive lineman Tre'mond Shorts is in the transfer portal and was one of LSU's first offers to guys in the trenches.
He's now set to visit LSU this weekend. Shorts has already been to North Carolina and Central Florida, but he's on a visit to Mississippi State today. More than one person I talked with thinks it's the Bulldogs vs. Tigers for the Georgia native. He's got one year left of eligibility, but they are still pressing for him after adding OT Miles Frazier. They are also hosting ULL OL O'Cyrus Torrence on Thursday, so a busy stretch coming up here for OL coach Brad Davis.

Bring is any OL, DL, or Edge who has even a 40% chance of making a difference this yearThis suuuuuuucks. Could explain the 3 new transfer OL follows for the staff today.
If we strike out on Shorts, I hope we put a full court press on Brian Greene, starting center for Wazzu who is transferring. We also just started following Tyler Steen, a 3 year starter at RT and LT from Vandy. Obviously not a high caliber program, but the dude has 25+ SEC starts so that’s gotta count for something.
