I would be shocked if any school made any money on deals like this. An organization making millions off of athletes wetting the beak on money the athletes are making themselves? That's a PR nightmare.

And in the context of the thread, I'm guessing that the players at Texas have some sort of obligation to receive that money, a public appearance of some sort, visiting a hospital, etc.

Universities don't have to necessarily make money off of it for it to benefit them. I'm sure there are generous salaries being paid out to those involved and I doubt Gerrod took a pay cut.

University bureaucracies married to businesses that take on student athletes as clients... doubt anything fishy would occur (nor I do I care if it does).

Guess we'll see. My only point was that it doesn't appear Texas players have to do much of anything and it's the entire team that's benefitting.
