OT: Had a weird night

Have a friend this happens to quite a bit. It turned out to be a stress/anxiety thing but I know his doctor did some tests to make sure there wasn’t issues with his adrenal gland and some other stuff. His is brought on by alcohol too
Yeah, for me this is brought on by alcohol anxiety. Just know @Bootleg11 that I was up with you too. Used to happen often and it was always from alcohol anxiety but I am 99% sure I saw you don't drink much at all. I really tore into the vodka saturday probably too hard. Hoping Tuesday I dry up for awhile. Been a few months.

Anybody ever experienced this?

I went to bed about 10:30 last night. At 2:15 I woke up with so much adrenaline I couldn’t even lay in bed and try to get back to sleep. Ended up going down stairs and watching tv for 2 hours to try and calm down. Went back to bed but never felt like I went completely back to sleep.

It was the strangest feeling. Even scared me a little. It felt like my heart was racing, I took my pulse at like 230 AM and it was about 65 then at 3:30 it was racing a little up to 75 bpm. At one point I wondered if it was a heart attack, a panic attack or if I was just overreacting.

I’ve always had low blood pressure and my resting heart rate right now as I sit at my desk is 60 bpm which is pretty normal for me.

Either way, miserable day ahead for me and hopefully tonight is better.
Eat some nuts. Prob low on magnesium. Happened to a buddy of mine years ago.

Yeah I am stressed right now, probably more than I’ve been in a long time. Not a very stressful, dramatic person but have some stuff going on right now. Probably a factor.
If it is stress/panic attack related then research Vitamin B3 with Niacin. I struggled with stress induced Panic/Anxiety Attacks for years. Especially after I had been out drinking. That is referred to as HangXiety. It's a real thing. I now take Vitamin B3 with Niacin every morning and have not had any of these recurring symptoms. I didn't want to go on medications so I was looking for more natural ways to deal with the stress. This has worked miracles for me

My 2.5 year old now won’t go to sleep unless I lay next to him. I’ll usually fall asleep and sneak out later. So whenever he wakes up and realizes I’m gone he will yell the same thing
Yep, same thing. Refuses to go to sleep on his own so the wife and I alternate nights laying by him until he falls asleep and we sneak out. Then he wakes up alone and freaks TF out.
We just lay the one year old in the crib awake and say “see you at 7am” and he rarely makes a peep. Thank god.
You guys both have good teachers and they have taught you well......

I had this same problem before. Had to leave the tv on all through the night so my mind had something else to listen to. Horrible and thank god it has passed.
The TV being on all night usually results in a very pooor night’s sleep for most. I know.....

I will have a hard time going to bed. I'll be up till 2,3 or 4 am probably 1/2 nights a week wide awake thinking of ways to make my life better.

I also have 3 kids under 4 so I need to be going at 6am. So that's always fun

I'm usually asleep by 11, don't wake up till 7. My 6 year old usually gets up before me, I wake the other 2 up for school.

I'll add another vote for possible stress related anxiety. Your subconscious can't work things out and turns on your monkey brain. There's been some good suggestions in this thread. Meditation and breathing exercises can help me. And strange works wonders, too 😉

Relieved to know it happens to others, mine is so bad I have to take Ambien almost every night. My brain has a hard time shutting off after work. It happened to me for the first time about 18 months ago, the same exact thing, I thought I was having a stroke or something. I went and did a bunch of tests, MRI, brain wave, everything. Doctors didn't find anything conclusive so I came to the conclusion it was work/stress/anxiety-related. Scary stuff

I’ve had several dreams about my dad (died 6 yrs ago at age 91) in the past few months. Hard to describe how much I miss our (almost) daily phone calls.

OP its anxiety. Happens to us quite a bit. Usually if i am super busy or if i drank a bunch in the last few days and either didnt drink for a day or have a lot to do the next day.

Yeah talked to my sister who is a counselor. She said the same thing. Anxiety. I’m a pretty laid back guy, pretty big shock to the system.
