I didn't read the whole thread, so my appoligies for any repetition.
Here's a few observations from the game day experience:

Internet: First of all, I tried to start this post in the stands while the band was doing its pregame show. But I couldn't because the page wouldn't fully load. The internet connection in the stadium is about as bad as its ever been. I don't even think I had this kind of trouble getting my iPhone to connect as a student in the '90s.
I couldn't use Twitter. Couldn't pull up the roster on the official Husker app. Couldn't get a webpage to load. I didn't have problems doing any of these things last year. We knew this was coming when they announced last week that they were were going to focus on the concorse connectivity and forego the in-stadium wifi. It's a bit strange to me because not too long ago the general consensus was that you had to have fans be able to connect to their phones and social media to stop the trend of shrinking attendance numbers. But I guess now we're not worried about it.

Security: From the same article I linked to above: "Gate Screening: Nebraska Athletics will utilize a new gate screening process at Memorial Stadium this fall. The walk-thru frictionless technology should provide a more efficient gate screening process and enhance safety for Husker fans."
Well, this was an outright lie. It was much slower. The lines outside the gates of people waiting to get in was the longest I've ever seen. At my gate the guy was looking at a screen and waiving people through one at a time about every 5 seconds.

Heat: When the band drum major struts onto the field to start the band show in his or her full uniform, with the cape and the tall hat with the plume, leaning back and high stepping, it's kind of cool. When they do it in slacks and a polo shirt, it's kind of ghey.

Cashless: Things were super smooth at the concession stand. They hand me food, I tap my card and I was gone. Took less time than waiting for change with cash. In the stadium with the hawkers was basically the same thing, except one time a guy stopped in front of me and had to fidget with his card machine for several minutes before it started working again.

Timing: The Tunnel Walk timing was fixed. Several times last year we'd stare at a blank screen while Sirius had to go into its second or third loop before we saw any players. It was awkward. This year, at least for Game 1, it was perfect. As soon as the live video kicked in we saw the team walking toward us out of the dark of the tunnel. Hopefully that wasn't a one-off and they got the kinks worked out. Also, the flyover was perfectly timed with the end of the anthem.

I'm looking forward to the house a rockin' next week!

Smartphones didn't exist back then so I'm guessing it wasn't that bad. Agree internet was terrible though. I did accomplish some text messages. Gave up quickly on anything internet related.
Yeah. iPhones were invented in 2007, I beleive. I didn't own a cell phone of any kind until about 2003. It was a poor joke. 🙂

I had one in 1995 but I got like 5 free minutes a month and it was like $20/minute if I went over. Was basically for emergency use and even if I did get stranded somewhere in a blizzard my dad would have been like...

"Ok. Somewhere between Mead and Wahoo is close enough directions. If I don't find you in the next hour just start walking towards highway 92. Whatever you do don't call me back."

I remember being told that even if a cell phone didn't have a live contract with a carrier, it would still dial 911. So my parents gave me an old phone to carry in my car during college. Never tested it.

That was actually really smart.

Aaron Murray (Old UG QB) broke down Dylan Raiola and I thought he did a really good job. The surprising thing to me out of this was how many times he pointed out how lazy our receivers were being and he was right. I put blame on Fidone for some of those flat routes but honestly our WRs just did a shitty job blocking on at least one of them. A couple of the "bad throws" I thought from Raiola were actually just caused by receivers jogging in their routes and taking too long to develop.

Excellent breakdown. And agree on some of the route running.

We see some of Dylan's youth in this breakdown. A few times slow on reads or the wrong read. But not often, and for a true Frosh QB, he is ahead of almost all QB's at this stage. We also see veteran things like getting the ball out before the receiver is even out of his break. This is really good stuff.

We see arm strength, accuracy and very good ball placement, a lot of overall good decisions and reads for a true frosh QB. We also see areas Dylan can and likely will improve. He obviously has a high level feel for playing QB properly. To go along with the arm talent, those high level instincts and progression reads are why we are all so high on Dylan.

After watching this breakdown, I do strongly agree that our receivers in general need to be better route runners. Slow/sloppy/incorrect routes lead to sacks or INT's, or at the very least an incompletion. We also see on screens how poorly our receivers blocked. On the Fidone screen, blocking was terrible. I also didn't like how much Fidone bellied back on his route, had his head turned backwards where when he makes the catch his is actually running the wrong direction of north/south. If that route had been able to be run where his head is more north, Dylan then throws north, Fidone would not have had the belly action in his route and would have had at least momentum in the right direction, even if it was terribly blocked by the two outside receivers (they literally both completely whiffed on their blocks, which totally blew up the play, belly route or not).

We have a lot of room to get better. Receivers weren't sharp, and Dylan needs his receivers to get to their spots quickly and not waffle around on routes. For a true frosh QB, Dylan overall did great, though. We have not had this level of QB play... in a long time. The future is bright, but there will be bumps along the road.

That was my read as well on it as far as Dylan, some of the freshman mistake stuff was definitely there. But he’s a notch ahead of Casey Thompson, who was our only QB that comes to mind that a breakdown like this wouldn’t just be 20 minutes of “Well the QB just threw it to someone he decided before the ball was snapped he wanted to throw it to and this is why that was stupid”

Yeah. I don't mind the quick hitters to the flat to a TE or WR, but they have to be sharp enough that you're looking at positive yards of them even if it's just a couple.

Those are plays that I never expect to be big gainers but that action can be used to set up other stuff down field, but they absolutely can't be things that get you behind the chains
