Official TPB Red Dirt Country Thread

First concert I ever went to was Cross Canadian Ragweed at Lone Star Arena in Stephenville TX. My favorite Texas country music band is Randy Rogers Band. Also love Roger Creager, Robert Earl Keen, old Pat Green stuff and Jason Boland

More current stuff I've been listening to: Koe Wetzel, Whiskey Myers, and Parker McCollum, Brent Cobb, Kyle Park amongst others

Want something a little different check out Arlo McKinley or Pecos & the Rooftops. Really digging Arlo McKinley right now.

Best concerts: Whiskey Myers, Roger Creager, Randy Rogers circa early 2000s, Koe Wetzel and any concert at the Larry Joe Taylor Festival

Edit*... Feel bad for leaving out Reckless Kelly and Cody Jinks

You’re in Kansas right? You probably get just a touch more Red Dirt than in Nebraska.

I’d have to say I’ve been listening to a ton of Parker McCollum, Koe, Flatland Cavalry, Randy Rogers.

Best Red Dirt concert I’ve gone to would have to be any of the Koe shows. The fan obsession makes them incredible atmospheres. William Clark Green actually puts on a decent show as well as Parker.

Parker is actually coming to Kearney in March. I have to work state basketball though and can’t go.

Yeah I grew up in Texas though. Still call it Texas Country.
We have a local radio station out of Pratt, KS that plays Texas country. Pretty awesome

Met William Clark Green backstage in Wichita. He was interesting. At Calf Fry in Stillwater, we snuck backstage after Koes show and found the biggest bag of drugs a I had ever seen. Not saying it was his, but ya know....probably

Good chance I go see Logan in March. First concert since last February
His son and my middle son are the same age. We run into them quite a bit at sports. He roomed in college with a buddy of mine. He actually took a job as the choir teacher at Andale High for a litttle bit during the pandemic lol.

Pretty disappointed. Went to buy tickets a day after our friends and it was sold out

Not as into music as I once was but Red Dirt/Texas Country was all i cared for.

Been to too many concerts to count, but by far the coolest venue out of them all for me was Gruene hall in New Braunfels. Dinged a smoke show of a 29 year old blonde after watching James McMurtry that night.

Second favorite was Hangovers Ball at the wormy Dog in OKC. Nothing but acoustic shows by most of the big names of the 2000s like Cody Canada, Boland, Bleu Edmonson, Brandon Jenkins, and Stoney Larue to name a few.

Another favorite of mine I haven't saw mentioned was the Great Divide.

Gruene Hall after a day of floating the river all day was a great way to spend the day as a college kid. Now I’d have to float one day and then go to Gruene Hall the next day to survive.

Love that part of Texas. So much to do within an hour’s drive.

Made my kids listen to the Great Divide this weekend “College Days”

Have a good story about accidentally meeting Stoney Larue a few hours before I went to his concert when I was in college that involved a lot of drinking and a lot of shit talking between Stoney and I. All in good fun

so glad to see him up on stage again. people forget that no red dirt band had ever ascended to the heights of Turnpike Troubadours. all we can do is continue to hope for the best.

Heading to a Stoney Larue concert on Friday. I’m not a huge Stoney fan, just like his old hits but will be nice to catch some live music.

He just happened to be playing down the road from the cabin we are renting in Oklahoma.

apparently Evan Felker and his wife are back together and just welcomed a daughter. very legal, and very cool. the tea leaves are trending towards future Felker music and maybe, just maybe...more Turnpike?

I actually just heard this the other day that Felker is making music again and Turnpike is likely to get back together. I saw Nix has a couple concerts lined up on his own this year
