Official 2025 Nebraska Cardiac Beaver Slayers Baseball Thread (4-6)

I do really hope that we start going to 34 scholarships at some point. I am skeptical it's going to happen quickly.

That should be a bare minimum to compete.
I highly doubt it happens unless someone steps up to front the bill for it.
Looking at baseball nil at Nebraska, incredibly doubtful.

Last I heard a couple weeks back, 18 is the number.

But we still haven't received a final decision on what the B1G is going to allow anyways.

Nerve damage?

I don't know. Everything I heard yesterday afternoon was he passed UCL tests in Frisco on Friday night & again Saturday but then the MRI on Monday was bad & they were seeking a second opinion. Whether that happened or not, I don't know.

All SEC teams but 1 already offer full rides, plus NIL on top of that.

They're currently getting the elite of the elite. Same with ACC teams, and a few B12.
They’ll still have nil. But now they can tempt even more kids by telling them their nil doesn’t have to go to tuition.

I thought in the offseason thread you mentioned Gordon and Erstad were looking into getting involved in the baseball NIL part but there was a little pushback from 1890. How did that ever turn out? Was that you that discussed that?

Their NIL doesn't go to tuition as it is. It's paid directly without the players involvement. Then they get their NIL. We're not competing with them now for dudes, and it's not going to change with rosters being cut by 6 across the board...

I had an update after that and ended up deleting it. Erstad, Gordo, Watson, etc (about 15-20 total former players) don't want their money going to NIL. They have committed resources for facility improvements, not just limited to Hawks Field.

On a side note, I'm posting an update in the Bomb Shelter here in a little bit about something else...

Watching LSU up close it would seem the SEC is going to widen the gap versus other conferences. The mid majors like my son's team will struggle to keep their stud frosh and sophomore's if a SEC/Big12/ACC school is willing to pay them. I believe southern Illinois takes all JUCOS for that reason. LSU rolls out their #3 on Sunday pumping 97-99 with mlb scouts everywhere watching them.

Yeah that game definitely had a feel that the talent was not equal in both dugouts

Hoping this update involves us moving to the SEC in baseball when football inevitably breaks away from the NCAA.
