He went to UNK his freshman year and then transferred to UNL.

Or are you talking about the Bruins?
Ya, he went to Kearney and beat two top 10 teams out there somehow, had a pretty bad record but had a few kids I know (including Joba) play out there and they just weren't very good. Came back and played for Judds legion team even though there was kind of an unwritten rule that once you went off to college you don't come back and play legion even if you can, threw very well there. Then Nebraska had him play with the Bruins to verify things, and transfer to Nebraska happened shortly after.

He didn't even start pitching until his junior year of high school, so his arm was pretty fresh. Crazy story.

Wasn't he battling some pretty serious addiction problems?
Know he had some duis iirc.
Then tried to open a restaurant near south point and was almost denied a liquor license and had to move it in other people’s name or so some shit

Yeah he pitched a little bit in Pony League I think, but mostly he was known for being able to mash the ball at a young age. Then by middle of high school he was position less and not an elite hitter anymore (he could still swing it, just not at an all state level or anything) so they started pitching him. He was a grade above me but in my age bracket so I played against him all throughout my childhood.
