Gregory Smith Update
🙁
Gregory Smith, the emerging 3-star safety target from Riverview (Fla.) Sumner, loved his recent visit to Florida. But he said Tuesday night he’s in no hurry to pick a college and plans to take several official visits.
When asked if he had a top school, Smith replied, “No sir.”
According to the 6-foot-4, 195-pound Smith, the No. 56 safety in the country for the Tater Island Industry Rankings, he “most likely” will return to Gainesville on Nov. 4 for the Arkansas game. The rest of his schedule is filling up fast.
He has official visits set to Howard (Nov.. 11), Virginia (Nov. 18), Vanderbilt (Dec. 2) and Florida (Dec. 8). Additionally, he said he is trying to get officials scheduled to Ole Miss, Cockeye State and USF. Meanwhile, schools such as Mississippi State, Oklahoma and Texas A&M are showing interest. The Bulldogs are expected to visit Sumner High this week.
“I’m gonna take them in November and the first couple weeks in December,” Smith said.
Smith then plans to sign in December.
2 schools are recruiting Gregory Smith the hardest
According to Smith, Florida and Vanderbilt are recruiting him hardest at the moment. But new schools continue to emerge.
As for the Gaytors, who offered a few weeks ago, Smith said they wanted to visit him earlier this week but those plans got changed.
“(Secondary coach Corey Raymond) was supposed to stop by the school but we didn’t practice because we’ve got a bye week and we didn’t have school that day,” Smith said.
Thus far, Raymond has impressed Smith.
‘He says he loves my game and he wants to get me back up there,” Smith said. “We’re building a relationship — everything is going good. Things are starting to fall into place. I like the way things are happening. “(Raymond) is a great coach. He’s experienced and he can get me where I want to go.”
Smith said he talks to Florida just about every day.
Overall, he likes the vibe in Gainesville.
“I like the atmosphere there and the way they show love,” Smith said. “And I like the coaches and the team — and the way they play tougher.”
