question asks GIF
Shitty part. It’s very reminiscent of the last coach. I got my guys. Hard part is hindsight.

Rhule had a track record. Development. I still don’t like him as corch. Hope he turns it around. And fast. B1G is a blood bath.

I don't think we can judge the RB and wr coaches on this. The defensive assistants were just as inexperienced and they are looking great. The coordinator has a huge impact on how the assistants look

What I was afraid of is when a coach is right on a couple of other coaches and players and then thinks he’s bulletproof and can do it every time and make anyone he wants a star.

The defensive staff I’m sold on and Rhule did very well there. But offense is suppose to be the easier of the two and Rhule really did poorly there.

Urban Meyer said some telling things last week.

The only way teams win now is acquiring talent. Not only players but coaching.
Then follow is up immediately by saying Nebraska lacks talent.

He was pretty much calling out NU for getting the wrong coaches then talked about how Colorado, Texas state, and Wiscy all got elite staffs.
You actually think he was calling Nebraska out for hiring the wrong coaches??? Give me a break. Urban is smarter than that. How the hell does he know who is right for us?

Yes I do.

Correction….

I do believe Satterfield was given the latitude to choose who he wanted as his QB. But if Rhule made this decision unilaterally….. 😬😬😬😬😬
I’m not gonna say you are wrong because I don’t have any “inside” info. But I have a very hard time believing Satt got to pick the QB. There are articles about how Rhule had his contacts that said to take Sims. There are articles about how Rhule had basically researched Sims. And hell, wasn’t Rhule’s former OC at GT (could be way off on that). I think this was mostly on Rhule (Satt may have agreed?).

Idk if you watched todays game or read this thread but…

Only two games in, but Rhule doesn't have a team that even slightly resembles the one he's been preaching about building, and I'm worried why that disconnect exists.

Stuff we're good at that he's been emphasizing:

We run the ball (201.5/game, 5.2 avg) at a top 25 level.
We stop the run (56.5/game, 1.95 avg) at a top 10 level.

Stuff we're bad at where he says he wants to be good:

Protecting the ball: -6 Turnover margin through 2 games.
Taking the ball away: Only 2 takeaways through 2 games.
Efficiency: 26.5 yard/pt or, better put, a touchdown requires 185.5 yards of offense (Frost's team were terrible at this and hovered around 16 yds/point)
Comes down to 3rd down: 3rd Down Defense is 51.43% which is bottom 10 in the country type stuff. 3rd down offense is 37.5% which is around 80th in the country
Efficient in the red zone: Only 10 points in 3 red zone chances.

I'm not expecting to see the complete picture 2 games in or even by the end of the season, but the fact that we're actually worse in the areas he emphasizes makes me uneasy. Especially given the fact that we weren't all that great in a lot of these areas to begin with.

Sweet Jesus man are you watching the damn game? 4 of the turnovers today had nothing to do with coaching. Yeah you can say pull Sims. I was yelling that to the TV. But, do you see who we have behind him. Haarberg sailed his only attempt by 20 yards. We don’t have an option. The team is definitely more physical than last year. The team is, I would argue but open to interpretation, is more unified. We knew all along we lack skill talent. And when you turn it over 9 times in 2 games, good luck winning a game. The defense got tired today and it is impossible to blame them. Doesn’t take away from their physicality.

He has also preached that it will take time. Also said that he needs to be able to develop. Also said not everyone will buy in immediately. I will put words in his mouth but I will also say that I bet he believes that you need a playmaker at QB who doesn’t turn the ball over. Yes, they could pull sims, but good luck after that. Not saying not to give anyone else a chance, but I’m not expecting much better. Way worse in the running game, and maybe slightly better in the passing game? But they can probably catch a snap. Pushing Casey out was very bad for this staff.

Rhules career here is pretty much sealed. He and Satt hitched their wagon to Sims for some reason, this year isn't getting better, next year looks just as bad. Unless and absolutely almost impossible to save his career already at Nebraska is if he gets a LEGIT multi year transfer QB for next year and year after next while they develop some back up. With Sims shittin the bed, we might as well start looking at a new AD and coach already because we are so fucked.

I wished that Casey Thompson didn’t need that surgery after last season and had a chance to compete for the starting job in the spring. Whoever thought it would be beneficial to bring Simms in needs to be fired.

I posted the statistics that Rhule himself deems important thru two games and how they stack up to the national average. I didn't call out Sims or playcalling or anything else you concocted in your pity party inner monologue.

These are incredibly stupid takes 2 games in for a coach who had shitty first seasons with both the programs he built up.

I get the frustration, but Nebraska fans deserve to suck. Scott Frost needs five full years, but let’s run off a development coach 2 games in. Morons.

Through 2 games it seems like half the playbook is missing. There's a lot of really basic plays that essentially every team in the country can run that we aren't even trying

- designed rollout passes
- bootlegs
- RB screens
- WR screens
- deep shots

This offense makes no effort to stress a defense deep, and isn't doing anything to make the defense defend the whole width of the field, either. Most of our offensive plays take place within 10 yards of the LOS between the hashes. We're playing offense in a phone booth with a questionable OL where any missed block basically blows up the play

You're dumb. I'm not a frost apologist either he was hot shit from the start.

Being done with a coach after 2 games who took over a team with five straight losing records is what’s dumb. Honestly what do people expect coming off the last five years?
I'm not saying he 100 percent has to be fired but as we have seen the last 10 years of Nebraska football, hitching your wagon to a terrible QB has ended in the same exact way!! Tell me is there a QB in this roster that start or plays for another BIG team beside NW? The answer is no. And there isn't a savior on the bench or a savior recruit or transfer coming in. We've seen this movie before.

CBS radio just went in dry on Sims essentially called him the worst QB in the BIG!!

Why is offense suppose to be easier?

Many college coaching jobs have been ruined by picking and sticking with the wrong QB. Good news for Rhule is he only has a year or two tops with Sims. But what an absolutely colossal screw up.
