It's funny to watch how often he does this. I get that they're a business and they're "journalists" but the sunshine pumping and fluff pieces constantly put out are awful.

Late spring early summer they put out an article about Jacob Bower, how he could be a diamond in the rough, he was running with the 2s, could push for a starting spot, and was someone to watch. Fast forward to October, in the weekly chat, someone asked about Bower. Dean responded and said Bower isn't in the mix and he wasn't ever going to be.

Which is fine if he said something like...it really looked like he was going to be a contributor early on. Or something along those lines. He's incapable of admitting he was wrong.

It is worth remembering that both Snow and Rhule (both of whom are essentially DCs) are going to be overwatching how this progresses. Whatever occurred with Butler seems more about personality than any on the field issues.

The BIG question on next year's defense is getting a monster for the middle. We have about 6 slots available for Transfer Portal players, it depends on how the staff intends to manage getting to the 105 by 2030.

(We have to show progress, and we are 20 over that number right now. The huge classes are the Sophomore and Freshman classes so you suspect that is where they are taking players away from.)

The resume on this guy looks pretty good, but as always it is hard to know how someone will function on a bigger stage. But here are some things from his team last year:

21st Nationally in rushing defense
5th Nationally in scoring defense
12th Nationally in stopping opponents on 3rd down
