Grandpa's "Swimming lessons" when I was a kid, learned how to water ski in a similar fashion.

Literal quote from my dad after throwing me in the pool, "Well, you just gonna flop around or swim?" followed by, "relax and fucking swim your ass over to the side that is 4 ft away from you!!"

Water skiing was similar. Drug me half way across Lake Mead until I figured it out
