Breaking Jamar Mozee hired

I don't actually see the "pool of 20" language in the test of the rule but even if HOL is wrong you could, for example, designate Mozee to recruit off-campus and not designate an AC (Butler? Foley?)

11.7.3 Football. 11.7.3.1 Technical and Tactical Instruction. In football, any institutional staff member may provide technical and tactical instruction to student-athletes. Any institutional staff member may provide technical and tactical instruction to sprint football student-athletes. Sprint football coaches are prohibited from off-campus recruiting
Forgot about this.

That will all probably be irrelevant soon anyways

This might be a dumb question but are we allowed to take his son now? I thought there was some sort of rule about a new hire needing to be one of the 10 assistants to recruit prospects with connections to them otherwise there was a 2 or 3 year waiting period.
I have the same question.

A couple of thoughts:
• Maybe this rule was thrown out when unlimited on-field coaching was recently allowed. Now pretty much anyone can count as a full-time assistant.
• Maybe the rule doesn’t apply to him since we are hiring him from UCF and not directly from a high school. A technicality for sure, since he was a high school coach last season.

Technically, he's coming here from UCF which could make a difference.

If his son were to follow I imagine it’s because his dad has a chance at a long term stay at Nebraska. Coming because a spot with a short life span wouldn’t make sense
As is being alluded to, it's pretty much irrelevant what his specific position is now. He's a coach for the Huskers as long as he performs well.

Much bigger than the WR son. This hire could help us lock down Kansas City and could help with Missouri in general. With how much stronger University of Missouri has become, I think this is a good move to help us in the area.
I'd say so. I overlooked the original post until now, but seems like a pretty significant hire.

He will be able to recruit. Philip Simpson recruited Miami while being an analyst.
With this hire and Butler we recreated Cooper in the aggregate.

My guess is recruiting and talent evaluation will be his focus. Contacts in the midwest have to be pretty good and in key areas that Nebraska has been lacking.

Let's get some wins and see what is possible.

Every time I see this thread title, I read it that Jenna Haze has been hired, and I’m pretty sure we should at least consider the possibility (now that Cooper is gone).

I think he's a great coach to add to your stable, especially if you're looking to hire internally moving forward.

Great move imo

Rhule is grabbing a few guys with strong connections/recruiting-ties so his coordinators and Thomas don’t have to be on the road as much. Save for a few weeks per year, they will almost exclusively only be involved with on-campus recruiting. You can then have heavy hitters that are hungry gaining interest from the recruits and getting them to visit, then they get to speak with Rhule, Satt, White, and Thomas once here.

Totally on board with this. Let's get a couple of porn stars on the payroll and let them provide "ancillary benefits" to our student athletes...

A very smart and forward thinking way of going about things. With the change in rules, you should definitely explore that kind of thing. While I can't see hiring 10 people to form a "recruiting staff" and have them out recruiting players, leaving your coaches to coach and recruit on campus, I can definitely see a mix. How fluid is the 10 person recruiting rule? Can you change it up from week to week, month to month? It'd be smart to have the recruiting/headhunter guys out there doing the initial work and then switching them out for the coaches to close the deal.

I know we used to change it up from a week to month basis... like when Beck had jaw surgery or Cotton had something going on we would just declare one of the analysts or GAs to go out for them. With rules becoming less stringent I think you can just plug and play anymore for lack of a better way to say it.
