Generally I'm a 'results or get out' kinda fella. However, Fred might be figuring it out. We'll see how the rest of the year goes, but I think I'm here for the ride. Was impressed with the physicality last night. Haven't necessarily seen that with Fred teams in the past. If they fight like that every night I'm here for it.

In the BIG, if you can play defense, rebound, and get close to 60 points, you will be in every game. I think this team is built to do that.

Also, FWIW, it seems like Wilhelm finally found a role for himself as a guy who just comes off the bench and hustles.

Ya, say what you want about Bahe, but I thought he did an excellent job with his commentary. He talked about it multiple times - it was clear from the tip off that Nebraska just wanted it a lot more. They fought for everything and looked like they were having fun while doing it!

I wish that Fred would have started his tenure this way. But truth be told, I think if they play this way the rest of the year Fred ain’t goin’ anywhere.

In the BIG, if you can play defense, rebound, and get close to 60 points, you will be in every game. I think this team is built to do that.

Yep, sitting at 8-6, it peaked my interest enough to look at the remaining schedule. I think it's realistic they could be .500 the rest of the way. Steal one somewhere and who knows. They'll probably drop one you don't think they should, or get their doors blown off on the road a time or two. But I also think they'll probably get one or two they're not suppose too. Sooo, if they could go .500 and have winning record heading into the B1G tourney that's a NIT at minimum. That's improvement in my book and could see Fred build on that going forward.

I'd like to see them soften the schedule just a little bit in the non-con in the future. Their pre-season power 5 games are basically already built in with the gavitt games and the B1G/ACC challenge. Playing good competition is great but the Big Ten is a meat grinder. If they could be like 11-2, 10-3, 9-4 pre-Christmas going forward I think as long as they don't suck balls in the B1G they should have a good shot at post season play pretty regularly.

And I'd be OK with that - if the improvement holds through the end of this season. Just go .500 and continue recruiting to the new philosophy/identity.

That’s the thing. What are the chances you’re going to do better than Hoiberg?

I’d much rather have offensive problems now than defense or rebounding ones. I trust Fred can manufacture some points if need be. We ran some pretty slick quick hitters last night that I thought Tominaga would hit on.

This team is really easy to root for. I just wish that they had one more scorer. But we have to dance with who we brought. When Wilcher is hitting shots and Emmanuel is making free throws this team becomes really tough to play against.

We're not sacking Hoiberg at this point. Just get the team to 17-15, 18-14 type levels and we're good. Occasional NCAA tournament. Put out a team that's respectable and plays hard.

I want all of Turd's attention and all of our NIL $$ focused on turning around football. Hoiberg is more than fine, if this is his true level of coaching. He beat 3 ranked teams in 2022 calendar year. Beat Cockeye. Showed actually a ton of growth as a HC in that, in his situation, about 98% of people would have given up and tried to get fired (to get the buyout). Fred changed his stripes this yr which is way more than I had given him credit for.

It'd be very interesting to see where this team would be if fat Matty A was never here. Maybe it's a fluke but this year seems to be pretty telling. As it turns out, Hoiberg did not completely forget how to coach.

But… I’m not envisioning this team winning 18 games. The big ten is tough this year. I think it’s an 8 bid league minimum.

It was great leaving PBA last night.

There is some renewed energy in the fan base now. People are cheering and having fun leaving the game.

I think everyone coach that comes to Nebraska needs to understand that you can run lots of systems but if you can't play defense and get pushed over the fans are going to turn on you quicker.

Nebrasketball fans are a unique, devoted, and hungry bunch. I love me some Nebrasketball and, although it's been tough sledding since Fred has taken over, I've willingly watched every game and am just anxiously waiting for them to take off. PBA is an absolute electric and can't miss atmosphere when that team is in there competing.

The improvement on the court, identity, and culture are all so much better after the Matty A train-wreck. Fred deserves more time just based on how this season is going so far, and I think Turd will give him that time .. and like others have said, I'm not sure you can get a better coach than Hoiberg on the open market if you let him go. Give him time to build this team, it's not easy to build when you have to start at Ground zero

I looked at warrennolan.com the other day and saw that NU men and women basketball have the 4th and 5th highest strength of schedule in the NCAA.

I think they could dial back the OOC schedule a little bit and still be okay.

Saying no chance in sports, especially college basketball isn’t wise. An effort like last night, Purdue, and Pickle Smoochers is going to win you some big ten games. So I’ll say 18 isn’t likely. But I’m not going to say no chance.

Turd certainly has other priorities besides basketball at the moment. 100% agree there. I think Fred is making Turd’s year on the job a whole lot easier but choosing not to suck at the moment. I also think Turd is much more willing to hit the reset button on basketball than he was football.
