Nebrasketball Off-season Updates

I believe it was Jumbo Stiehm who after rattling off 55-14 record (33-4 in the MVC) from 1911-1915 got into an altercation with a Native American medicine man out in Box Butte county while he was on a recruiting trip. The shaman placed a curse on Nebrasketball which lead to Jumbo's eventually departure to Indiana and the curse could only be lifted if Stiehm returned to Box Butte county with an autographed basketball to break bread. Sadly Stiehm died of stomach cancer at 37 and Nebrasketball remains cursed to this day
My grandfather told me about this.

I always doubted him but I'm starting to believe it.

Started all 30 games at Ball State under former Husker assistant Michael Lewis this past year, averaging 14.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.3 steals. Coleman shot 35% from deep (68/193).

My Man, called your shot and nailed it. Well done. Days ahead of any of the Talking Heads on other sites.

Probably. I’m sure we would have reached out regardless but now there is a clear avenue to playing time.
The timing feels like that’s the case. I get he just graduated. However, the Michael Lewis comments make it seem like they were planning on having him. Seems like Fred n the boyz straight up recruited him away.

Could be wrong but that’s the vibe I’m getting.

I just think our pitch probably was better with the news that the degenerate gambler wasn’t going to play.

He looks ok and if we took his transfer in April I would be disappointed. However, pretty clear we are short on guards so just as a depth piece thank god he was available.

Graduated after finishing summer classes.
I like this late addition. Nothing wrong with adding a 4 year starter who can play PG, SG & Wing at 6-5. This is easily Fred's deepest team. If Ulis is cleared to play he might not even start. Guard & Wing positions are loaded with potential starters and quality depth. Can see all of these players potentially getting major minutes at Guard/Wing:
-Keisei
-Lawrence
-Williams
-Ulis (if eligible)
-Wilcher
-Coleman
-Rice

If I had to guess right now, and it is a complete guess, I'd put the starting 5 as:
-6-5 Coleman
-6-2 Keisei
-6-7 Williams
-6-6 Gary
-6-10 Renk
Average height 6-6, which is nice in the B1G. And I don't believe Keisei is a true 6-2 but thats what they list his as. Our average height for SChoalrship players is over 6-6. I can remember when we were starting Centers who were 6-6.

The rest of our 10 or 11 player rotation being:
-6-3 Lawrence
-6-7 Rice
-6-8 Allick or 6-11 Keita
-6-3 Ulis
-6-5 Wilcher

Former Starters Wilcher & Keita are going to have to fight for minutes. The only ones I see riding the bench waiting for blow out game minutes are
-6-6 Lloyd
-6-9 Diop

It's such a nice change to have 4 Post players who are 6-8 or taller. Plus some players who can play the wing that are 6-6 to 6-8. This feels like the first B1G level team for size & depth we have had since joining this conference.

Even if we recruited him we weren't the only ones as he said he had offers from Michigan, Ole Miss, Okie St, Auburn........ so it wasn't like we were potentially the only ones.

I've been a huge Nebrasketball fan my entire life, wishing they could become a program that consistently makes the tournament. I've been starting to feel that we could have a pretty good team this year. IMO Coleman > Ulis. The potential this year is starting to feel like a giant cocktease.
