Wilhelm and Wilcher, despite their limitations, are guys you know can contribute in the Big Ten. It can't be a teardown every single offseason if Fred is going to build anything. Of course both have been up and down but that was the story of Keisei last year and people were ready to run him out.of town on a rail.

Now I don't think it's the end of the world if you'd lose them, but I don't think you should be looking to chase them off, imo.

This is exactly right. Further, I’m not sure Nebraska is in a position to go replace those two players with better ones from the portal.

Fred had him close some games so regardless of how people feel about him that's a pretty clear signal of where he is in the pecking order

As an extremely unathletic white guy, I have a soft spot for ol goggles. I don’t think he’s good but idk if we need to run him out of town. Having 4-5 open spots for next year seems like plenty of new faces already.

Here's my facemelter: Breidenbach gets instantly downgraded bc he's a white dude who moves is an awkward way. But he's not wholly uneffective at the B1G level. Not a terrible rotation player.

If Breidenbach was a black dude who moved without the awkwardness... BUT had the exact same level of production & same ceiling, fans would be more than happy to keep the black guy. 🧐

On another note, the difference between Oleg and Breidenbach was that w Oleg we knew in the first 5 seconds of seeing him he'd never be a B1G player. Breidenbach looks like a fuckin weirdo out there - and moves like one - but he actually manages to contribute at the B1G level (for a rotation guy/sub).

I'd keep Wilhelm mainly because I'd fear that Fred would replace him with someone worse: like another Oleg or a Matej Kavas (remember that scrub?). WB 100% looks like a weirdo out there but he can actually play at a B1G bench player level.

Barring some good big man transfers, he'll have the minutes to do that. Hopefully he refines enough to make that a reality. Would be right about with what we lose in Walker.

hahaha. I agree, but I am still willing to be patient with Willy. He is coming off major knee surgery, so this was really his first full year in the B1G. I think he can still develop and be a nice contributor.
