Nebrasketball 2024-25 Roster Ins/Outs

quick notes from What I have heard (not sure the accuracy)
First the number floating for Chucky to Louisville is pure BS. Its high but not that high
Louisville is the only school that wouldn't take a chucky/frankie package
MSU and Pickle Smoochers are the leaders for the duo with the Pickle Smoochers being the top
Chucky has some angst for nebraska and its not because of the coaches. I'll let you deduce that meaning.
WK3 appears to be leaning our way but wake will push hard. (said to have salis parents in his ear to go to wake)

Dont know the accuracy of these statements but thats what i heard

I would like the addition of Essegian. His Playing Time and numbers went down last season after a very strong Freshman year. Maybe that was because All American AJ Storr transferred in. But as a Freshman he played 27 min/game while averaging 11.7 pts/game by shooting 36% from 3 & 88% on Free Throws. Also had 3.7 reb/game. Good numbers for a Freshman on a B1G team

That seems like a kid who would benefit from a fresh start. Same with Griffiths.

Not sure how to post the info but wish Fred would take a look at 6’5”guard Duke transfer Jaden Schutt.

4 star out of high school, 2022 Illinois Gatorade POTY, hit 17 threes in a high school game, lead his team to the 17U title and won a state championship.
Both parents grew up in Nebraska and his Dad played at Concordia at Seward.
Sounds N to me

Which lineup would we all prefer?

Worster/Hoiberg/Ulis
Williams/Griffiths
Gary/transfer
Milicic or Kyle/transfer
Mast/Morgan

Or

Worster/Hoiberg/Ulis
Williams/Griffiths
Fiddler/transfer
Gary/transfer
Mast/Morgan

Best case scenario imo would be Gary coming off the bench:

Worster/Hoiberg/Ulis
Williams/Griffiths
Fiddler/Gary
Milicic or Kyle
Mast/Morgan
I like that we've got true point guards and guys that are interchangeable at 2/3/4. Fred can play with the rotations until something gels.

Milicic or Essegian?

Speaking of whites (lol!), any word with Brenden Hausen? I'd much prefer him over Essegian...
I could be wrong, but based on what Robin has been saying. It sounds like if Essegian is N, Hausen's visit will probably be canceled. If Essegian holds off and visits Ohio St then Nebraska will put the full court press on Hausen. I'd prefer Hausen too, but Robin said this morning he heard KSU has a huge NIL deal for Hausen.

I'm pounding F5 for news on Milicic. I really hope we get this kid.

I was super impressed when we played Buttgers. He looked like a doofus but boy had some skills.
I pulled up a bunch of his high school highlight reels and was blown away. Quick hops and could really run. Had a great 3 Pt stroke when it was Catch & Shoot. Defensively he was not afraid to challenge larger players at the rim when they tried to dunk either. Although kinda skinny I liked how he used his body against larger defenders when attacking the rim on dunks or drives to the hoop. I haven't watched much from his time at Buttgers but do remember being impressed when we played them. Also thinking, crap this kid is only a Freshman. Put some good muscle on him with our S&C and he has the ability to be All B1G.

I hate to keep going back to Kansas comparisons for hoops but I watch their games plus lots of discussions about them with my KU friends & family. But to an extent he reminds me of KU player Australian Johnny Furphy, except a bit more hops than Furphy. Both are a long 6-9 & about 200 lbs. No fear of attacking the rim or bigger players plus good outside strokes. I think Griffiths has 1st Rd draft potential with his combination of athleticism, length and shooting stroke. I know he didn't shoot great last season but he was a freshman playing for a team that had an offensive philosophy that was like watching a Rock Fight.

Furphy was a fill in for a late KU departure not even ranked initially by recruiting services and after his Freshman season some are saying he could be a 1st Round Draft pick, this year. Furphy only averaged 9 pts, 5 rebs while shooting 35% from 3. I see Griffiths being as good or better in almost every facet of the game than Furphy but Griffiths just needs to be in the right offensive system

So, as it stands right now, it is looking likely that Essegian and Milicic will round out this class. That would mean we are trading Keisei, Allick, Coleman (graduating) with Janowski and Frager (HS), and Lawrence, Wilcher, Rice, Kieta, Diop and Lloyd (transfers) with Ulis, Worster, Morgan, Griffith, Essegian and Milicic (transfers).

Last years lineup vs next years projected lineup...

Williams -> Worster
Keisei -> Williams
Gary -> Gary
Allick -> Milicic
Mast -> Mast

Lawrence -> Griffith
Wilcher -> Essegian
Hoiberg -> Ulis
Rice -> Morgan

Losing Keisei is a blow, but that roster looks like a much more competitive team...
