HH looked like he had went 15 rounds in the press conference. He is going to need to learn when to preserve himself and when to run with authority as he did the first couple weeks. He tiptoed into the line a lot today and was pounded for it.

15 rounds is an accurate assessment. It was clear their goal was to knock him out of the game. Other teams will be looking to do it the rest of the way. He has to be smarter about protecting himself.

sCUm would be good to keep checking in on too now that they are most likely coming to the fact that they won’t go bowling, may not win another game, Shedildo may not make it thru the year, and Deion just threw the entire OL under the bus (warranted, but never should have been said publically).

I know this is late and missed the tags ITT.

I felt they didn't allow the subsituted player long enough to get off the field. I only caught the last part of the defender running off as the center judge was retreating back to positition allowing the offense to snap. I didn't see if the oncoming player was on the field for a significant amount of time before the replaced player ran off. If that was the case the crew was right in letting Nebraska get a illegal subsitution foul.

The term in the Rulebook is defense is allowed to "briefly retain" more than 11 players. So it's a judgement by the officials of what briefly is.

I wonder if the rule is written that kick catch interference only applies to players that are back to return at the start of the play. He was a guy blocking the other team the whole time. How do you know when he changes from blocker to returner?

Good question. Not sure but he was looking up at the ball for a while before he caught it.

There used to be an old philosphy that if the returner fielded it without muffing the is no kick catch interference.

However per approved rulings
Team B player, about to catch a scrimmage kick, is tackled before the ball arrives but catches the kick while he is falling. RULING: Kick-catch interference. Penalty—15 yards from the spot of the foul.

It was an awkward play that you just have to watch. I haven't found a full game on youtube yet but it's at :44 left in the 2nd quarter.

Watching it again it didn't look that bad. Hill caught it as a gunner with a player pushing him in the back a little bit.

Basically, Purdoo was punting into the wind and the wind caught the punt enough that it didn’t make it to the returner and Tommi Hill(not the actual returner) was there instead and called for a fair catch. Before he could catch it, a Purdoo player bumped into him.
