Nebraska to SEC?

Nebraska, a yankee State, accepted into former confederate slave State’s conference. Is it the off season already?
Several thousand Nebraskans from the Nebraska territory did serve in the Union Army

What does that have to do with 21st century college football conferences?

I would love to be in the SEC TBH. Only thing that’s better about the big ten is the money. But I think our brand value would be enough to tilt the balance in the SEC’s favor.

Playing Ole Miss in Oxford in November would be preferable to playing Rutgers in New Jersey. I would actually consider going to away games if we played in the SEC

I think Nebraska fans would enjoy SEC style football more than whatever Big 10 football is supposed to be

That fucking moron thinks we would rather play Arkansas than Cockeye or Wisconsin?

Sure there would be great matchups in the SEC, but there would also be Kentucky, Vandy, Miss St, South Carolina, etc.

We were most at home in the old Big 12 but thank god we bailed on that early enough. In the current day, I’ll take games against USC, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Cockeye, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois over a schedule of Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Bama, Ole Miss, and Oklahoma. We’d feel even more like outsiders in the SEC than we do in the Big Ten.

It’s a take from someone who assumes that everyone else loves the SEC as much as he does. He doesn’t understand that we have a very real rivalry with Wisconsin and Cockeye, and a decent thing starting with Minnesota.

Arkansas lol. Gmafb. Also, we only played A&M a handful of times in the Big Ten. There’s no actual history there.

Give me OU, TX, and Arky over Cockeye, Wisconsin, and Minny

We had* growing rivalries with Wisconsin and Minnesota.

IMO, you can maybe maintain a historic rivalry long-term without playing every year, but you can't maintain a brand new rivalry not even playing every other year. Those budding rivalries are dying or already dead.

Having celebrated in person the sesquicentennial and fought along side @HuskerDocCo where we had to shadow the Army of Northern Virginia near Richmond for many weeks I have feelings about the confederates. We tracked them all the way to Appomattox where I finally got my eyes on Robert E. Lee. @huskerdoc missed a shot at him from 500 yards due to having drank too many natty lites that day. Later on @HuskerDocCo and I were tasked with protecting President Lincoln. Natty lites may have played a role in that faithful evening. I also have it on good authority that John Wilkes Booth was illegally paying players at an SEC institution when they won a national title.

I’ll agree to disagree on that. I absolutely loathe Wisconsin and that’s not going to change. As long as Minnesota stays competitive there will be a rivalry there. It’s certainly more than we’d ever develop playing Kentucky every three years.

People say we don't fit in and aren't part of the family in the B1G....but we elicit a LOT of hatred in the B1G. Cockeye hates us. Minnesota hates us. Wisconsin kind of hates us. Even Michigan, judging by the twitter interactions, is not a fan of us. Illinois hates us. Indiana hates us. Purdue hates us

If you look at Mizzou in the SEC...no one hates them. No one even cares that they exist. Now that might change as they are become elite in FB. But to this point, no SEC school actually gives a shit about Missouri.

B1G is a good fit for us right now. I like that we stir up a lot of emotions in a good amount of B1G schools. That's a sign of being "one of the family." If we went to the SEC no one would give a shit about us.

Let’s be honest.

For the last twenty or so years, we’d have gotten our asses kicked in the SEC on most Saturdays.

I live down her and the football isn’t the same.

That’s not to say it’s superior every year, and likely not significantly so this year, but by and large the teams outside the top two in the SEC have been superior to the like squads in the B1G.

You mention Oxford versus Piscataway, and from a scenery, history and atmosphere standpoint you’re 100% correct. From a winning versus losing standpoint, we’d have been better off in the B1G.
