Got that same text on 7/15. Felt great.
I dare you to respond to that text
I got that 7/12 tbh kinda sad
Part of me was, too. I would have gladly performed my civic duty and I've heard that it gives you a different perspective on our legal system, and even as a tPB oulde, I'm always open to new perspectives and learning. BUT ... I really hate traffic and parking and the whole hassle of it all, and I've got some camper prep work to do that I'm now free to undertake. So I'm grateful that I "got the week back" to start (and finish) some of those projects.I got that 7/12 tbh kinda sad
After hearing from a good friend in PA that had just finished serving as the foreman of the jury for an attempted murder of a police officer trial in June, I was happy to avoid jury duty.Part of me was, too. Back in 1995 I was selected for an attempted murder trial in Orange County Superior Court in Santa Ana. 22 year old gang member from Fullerton stuck a steak knife into the chest of a rival gang member. Blade hit the sternum and broke off or we'd have had a murder trial. After hearing from a good friend in PA that had just finished serving as the foreman of the jury for an attempted murder of a police officer trial in June, I was happy to avoid jury duty.
That’s scary shit.Back in 1995 I was selected for an attempted murder trial in Orange County Superior Court in Santa Ana. 22 year old gang member from Fullerton stuck a steak knife into the chest of a rival gang member. Blade hit the sternum and broke off or we'd have had a murder trial.
Dragged on for 2 weeks and it took us 30 minutes to find him guilty but we stayed in the jury room for another hour to make us look thoughtful.
When the verdict was read the entire room was filled with his buddy gang members staring us down along with about a dozen armed Orange County Sheriffs keeping watch. Afterward we went into the judge's chambers where he thanked us and said we probably should steer clear of Fullerton for a few months. No shit. Armed escorts walked us to the parking garage and sent us on our way.
Big city life.
I have 2 Jury Trials starting next Monday. Defendant filed a speedy trial (already in DOC so it's a 120 day dispo) and has 2 cases.
Plan is: Monday: a day of Motion Hearings. (Motion to Suppress, Motion to Dismiss, Motion in Limine and Pretrial Conf) Tuesday: Voir dire in the morning, jury trial in the afternoon, Guilty Verdict by supper. Wednesday: same as Monday but with next case. Thursday: same as Tuesday except with the next case. Friday: Coors Light water boarding
im actually supposed to do the same thingI understand Fridays scheduled event , not so much anything else
