MLPFC Shit Posting

The wife and I are off on a little adventure. Leaving Thursday out of Long Beach Airport (love that airport) and flying to Hot Springs, AR for her 55th high school reunion. I think I mentioned before that she was an AFS exchange student from Vietnam for her senior year in 1968-1969.

She didn't go to Hot Springs for school but went to Pine Bluff HS. Pine Bluff now being one of the 10 most violent cities in America probably influenced the decision to move it to Hot Springs. I've never been but apparently it's a beautiful place with half the town inside a national park.

She worries that she won't remember some of the people in her class but I assured her they'd remember her since she was probably the only Asian within 50 miles. Looking forward to a few days of real southern food.
Enjoy the trip. I recently finished a book called The Vapors that is about Hot Springs and the prolific casino and gambling scene from the 1930's into the 1960's. The book describes Hot Springs as an awesome, little known oasis.

Thanks for the information. I'm really looking forward to visiting the town and national park. It's surprisingly inexpensive for a resort town but then everything is inexpensive compared to what I'm accustomed to in California LOL.

Sorry to hear Coors. Glad that dude had such an impact.

my senior year. elm creek was beat up, we knew how to win playoff games. played in 18 of them
I'll say. Three trips to Memorial stadium is incredibly impressive. 08 was my freshman year and Elm Creek dog walked us in the regular season. Derek Foster might still be running today.

We turned it around my junior year and make it to the semi's twice, but were never able to make it to Lincoln. I finally made it onto the field at Memorial Stadium during a football game last year, but it was for the HyVee tailgate of the year. Not quite as sweet as a state championship game, but I will take what I can get.

semi final games were so fun. small fields & huge crowds. npsp?

that had to be the absolute best. any day they lose anything is a damn good day
Extra sweet since they beat us in the semi's the year before.

It's weird going back to games nowadays. We and all of the teams I played against (mostly) are 8 man. My nephew plays and its fun to watch, but it does make me feel like high school football (or at least small town high school football) is dying.

Blue hill dropped down to 8 man my senior year and we played them first game of the season that year. They turned it on later in the year and about beat the state champion hemingford in the quarters or semis out west. We made it to Lincoln and got absolutely dogwalked by that hemingford team.
