MLB lockout is official

I don't know if a true cap is the answer because all of that is way above my pay grade, but even as a Dodgers fan I can admit that they really need to do something about competitive balance. Shit, I wouldn't mind them doing something similar to the premier league with relegation so that maybe some of the cheap fuck owners would actually try to field a decent team. Obviously that'll never happen, though.
Rather than a cap they need a minimum.

If the MLB changed some stuff and marketed itself a little better, I think MLB could become much more popular
Agreed. Right now Mike Trout and Shohei Otani are two of the best and most fun to watch players since Barry Bonds. But you never see any advertisement or excitement around them. (Better job with Ohtani)

I think Nebraska could do better crowd wise than some current MLB teams.
Maybe Tampa, but you have to remember there are 81 home games every season and most stadiums hold around 40k. This isn't like showing up for 7-8 Nebraska home games per year.

We would also be stuck with the worst TV contract in the league, which would leave the team with less money to spend than even the Royals.

This was always going to happen.

What will 100% come of this is I’m sure they’ll redo things like rookie deals and when players are eligible for arbitration. But also the universal DH will 100% get passed.

Thank God.

There's a couple things that have hindered the marketability of those players.

Trout has been injured the last two seasons. A lot of professionals also state that Trout shys away from the lime light and likes to keep to himself.
Add on to that, his surrounding cast up until last year blows and there's not much to market.

Ohtani is great but he too has injury woes. Add that he isn't English speaking and it's harder for wider audiences to connect due to wanting to hear from the player themselves, instead of a translator. (I find it funny national media seemed to cover Ichiro toward the later half of his career when he tried speaking in english during post game interviews.)

Bonds during the height of his marketable years was on a winning team and stayed away from major injury.

With the Angels roster additions this year I can see an increased push for marketing that team.

PS: Not disagreeing with the MLB sucking at marketing their best players. I just believe the reasons I stated above is why those two in particular haven't had their media time yet..
