I hope so. Done justifying things for coaches after the last half decadeI think the receivers coach will make some people eat their words down the road.

Who? Haven’t seen any big WR namesI’m fine with #RizzyMcGuire sticking around to develop our WR class from last year and coach the croots he’s bringing in for ‘24. We have a pretty solid group coming in.
Barney, Hall, and McMorrisWho? Haven’t seen any big WR names
Haven't paid much attention to recruiting since Frosty was fired to be honest. Only names I know there are McMorris a nd Hall and that's cause they're local.Barney, Hall, and McMorris
I feel that they regressed under Raiola compared to Greg Austin. Too bad we didn't try and make a run at Bob Bostad who was Wisconsin's OL coach last year. He might be available after this year since he's the OL coach at Indianus and their HC is on the hot seat.A lot of mention of Raiola. All the line guys stunk under previous staff. They still stink for the most part. Benhart has made some improvements under Raiola.
I have to wonder if the problem isn’t more that these players have hit their limit for improvement and no amount of coaching will fix that.
I think it’s going to take a couple of years minimum to see improvement here. And it’s going to be with new linemen. I’m willing to hang with Raiola a bit longer as I believe a lot is simply the hand he was dealt. Recruiting oline is tough. We saw that during the offseason. We thought we had a good grad transfer until Oklahoma bought him for more money.
You want McGuire gone but you have no idea who he's recruited?Haven't paid much attention to recruiting since Frosty was fired to be honest. Only names I know there are McMorris a nd Hall and that's cause they're local.
They stunk last year too. El Matador (Corcoran) is the same as last year. Benhart is better. My wife says I don’t yell at him like I did last year. Teddy is perpetually injured. I don’t know how you can think they regressed. Just my opinion.I feel that they regressed under Raiola compared to Greg Austin. I was comparing how the OL has looked compared to when Greg Austin was the OL coach vs Uncle Donnie while you are talking about 2022 vs 2023, which Uncle Donnie was still the OL coach. It's pretty sad that the OL actually looked when better bowling ball Tom Cavanaugh was the OL coach or Barney Cotton under Bo.They stunk last year too. El Matador (Corcoran) is the same as last year. I will quantify it that I have seen very little improvement. But that gets back to my original post, the current set of players has reached their limit.
You’re right, forgot that he was here last year.I was comparing how the OL has looked compared to when Greg Austin was the OL coach vs Uncle Donnie while you are talking about 2022 vs 2023, which Uncle Donnie was still the OL coach. Bro you funny as hell 🤣Foley on the other hand probably has some stretched out swingers in his jockeys.
With the offense it appears that Rhule is wanting to run, I wish Rhule would’ve even had made a run at a guy like Paul Chryst as OC.Been busy and I haven't hardly had time to even watch Nebraska live so I took a hiatus from this board.
Bud Elliott said it best, if Nebraska wants to be serious about football then they have to hire better on the offensive side. They did not make a serious hire at the offensive coordinator spot. And recruits/transfers know this. If college football is about talent acquisition and talent sees the coaching deficiency then they aren't coming here especially if the NIL isn't in order.
Until they hire a serious offensive coordinator, qb coach and a serious OL coach this thing will not get off the ground.
Andy Kotelnicki makes $1 million a year at fucking KU. Double his salary.
Kyle Flood makes $1.7 at Texas. Give him a 50% raise.
Jeff Lebby makes $1.9 at OU. Give him a 50% raise.
Just examples to get my point across.
How can Oregon go out and make a stud hire at OC and Nebraska gets a guy that South Carolina.. who helped pack?
If you want to be a serious program, you're spending fucking $450 million on a stadium that nobody is going to want to go to because you refuse to spend $4 million/year on a decent O coordinator and OL coach? That makes absolutely zero sense.
Nebraska plays big boy football when it comes to facilities and wants to talk about commitment to winning.
Commitment to winning is when you go out and you say, I don't give a shit what it costs to get you here Andy Kotelnicki...we will pay it and the buy out. I don't give a shit what you're getting paid at Utah, Jim Harding, we will buy it out and pay you $1 million to come coach the offensive line. (yes I know Kotelnicki is an OC/OL coach I'm just using examples, just let me go I'm on a roll). Nebraska did exactly that on defense. They went out and poach a DC that another Power 5 program wanted to keep around and everybody knew was on the come up. They did the exact opposite at OC (and STC) and hired nice guys.
Wisconsin goes out and hires Phil fucking Longo...they convinced him to leave a top 2 QB in the nation to live in cold ass Madison Wisconsin and Nebraska can't call up Kendall Briles and say "hey instead of TCU why don't you come make twice as much in the Big 10 at Nebraska?"
Nebraska hires a small time OC that no real QB is going to want to play for. This is what they get on offense.
Matt Rhule gets some leeway. No doubt, the guy has won a lot of games at some dumpster fire programs. We'll see if he can do it at this dumpster fire. But his OC hire and keeping the OL coach is definitely a miss on his part and there is zero, I mean zero, ways of defending it.
God and I defended these hires...you can look back at my history on here because I always defend coaches. No mas. Fuck the offense is embarrassing.
All right, I'm going back to my cave. See y'all when I'm ready to bitch again.
I think you said it best when no quality transfer will want to play for Satterfield. If isn’t about the wins and losses but more about the vision or lack there of with Satterfield.Been busy and I haven't hardly had time to even watch Nebraska live so I took a hiatus from this board.

The biggest thing I have against Chryst is the guy was shitty at developing qbs. With the offense it appears that Rhule is wanting to run, I wish Rhule would’ve even had made a run at a guy like Paul Chryst as OC.
There is some good stuff that has come from every OL position except LT. Improvements are evident from Benhart, Piper, and Nouilli. Not draft worthy or anything like that - but noticeably better than LY. Scott was a solid pickup - hoping for more from him though (was hoping for a solid B grade, so far a moderate C). .A lot of mention of Raiola. All the line guys stunk under previous staff. They still stink for the most part. Benhart has made some improvements under Raiola.

You fill in with recruiters. It’s the same with the DC. We could lose any of our defensive position coaches and be fine.It feels obvious to me that we need an elite OL and QB coach.
The other positions are almost irrelevant.
You really can't go after a Co-OC and retain Satterfield imo.You fill in with recruiters. It’s the same with the DC. We could lose any of our defensive position coaches and be fine.
I do think you're most likely right about this, however I personally believe this was going to be Rhule's preferred set up from the start and that Satt was going to split OC duties with Peetz. When Peetz said 'no' then Satt inherited full OC duties. You really can't go after a Co-OC and retain Satterfield imo.
Say we went after Tyson Helton as a Co-OC/QB coach (passing coordinator, he makes $800k as HC for WKU), where do you put Satt? He's not going to want to be the run-game coordinator.
My biggest problem with Satterfield is that the offense he ideally wants to run is not what Rhule is saying they're looking to run. As a QB coach he's never had a starter complete the season >100 QBR and he doesn't have a track record of developing QBs.
