Well, yeah. Five years ago Mahomes was in his second year as a starter. Are you making the argument that you can't be a Mahomes fan unless you were cheering for him at Texas Tech?

I'll be honest here. I wasn't a Matt Rhule fan until like two years ago.
You can be. You could be a Chiefs fan before Mahomes was there. You could appreciate his talent. But 80% of the Chiefs fans in these parts couldn't find Kansas City on a map 5 years ago

Which 50% in Jim in?

When it was at 7, it was juiced in favor of CU, and now that it is at 6.5, it is still juiced in favor of CU. The books are basically begging you to bet on CU right now
BetQL guy went 4-0 week 1 and he's made NU his #1 lock this week.

By Dan Karpuc
After a perfect 4-0 week (+4.03 units), I’m back for Week 2 picks and am really excited about this slate. Last week, I nailed Indiana -21.5 vs. FIU, Old Dominion +21 at South Carolina, James Madison -9.5 at Charlotte and UNLV’s ML at Houston and this week, I love Nebraska, Oklahoma and the Texas Tech vs. Washington State OVER. I’ll explain why below.

Nebraska -7.5 vs. Colorado (-105)

Colorado stinks. Even though they got by FCS North Dakota State by the score of 31-26, they allowed a completed Hail Mary attempt that nearly cost them the game and if it wasn’t for the heroic play of Shedildo Sanders and Travis Hunter, the Buffaloes would have certainly lost that game. Now taking on Nebraska on the road, I suspect we’re going to see more of what we’ve seen since Coach Prime took over the program: elite offensive play from their stars and not much else positive. The Cornhuskers are no joke and HC Matt Rhule was able to bring in prized recruit Dylan Raiola to lead his program into the future. The true freshman has tendencies of Patrick Mahomes and went 19-27 for 238 yards with two touchdown passes in Nebraska’s 40-7 Week 1 win over UTEP. The home crowd is going to be rocking and I expect an easy win.

It's been a bit bizarre but also a bit predictable. I thought it was a big spread this offseason (thought there would be more doubt about NU).

But I figured the line would stay exactly the same if CU and NU both had similar wins in week 1. The general public rated those wins exactly equal. So I expected the line to not really budge all week. And it really hasn't.

The notable thing is the lack of CU/Deion hysteria out there. The hysteria you'd think would bring the line down to NU -3.5 or so. But as you say, Vegas is basically BEGGING the public to take Colorado but the public hasn't been all that interested.

My $.02 is I have to think a lot of folks are punting on this game. They like Nebraska but 7.5 is too much in a rivalry game w a TR FR QB.

Ok one final thought on this, then I'll stop.

I probably scanned 15 or so national podcasts this week to get their NU-CU pick. Out of those 30 or so predictions from those (co-hosts etc), I only remember 2 people that actually picked Nebraska to cover (Ari Wasserman and this random Michigan guy). So the other 28 guys all said it would be a close game so they picked CU to cover.

Kind of odd if you ask me:

A - You have the vast majority of media/experts saying "this will be a close game decided by 3-4 pts", so take CU to cover
B - You have Vegas set a 7-7.5 line all week BEGGING you to take CU....and the line hasn't moved much

That has to set off alarm bells if you're a an experienced CFB gambler. The line is not matching the public sentiment & not matching the "experts."

Trying to figure out why this is a -7.5 line yet 90% of national folks say this is gonna be a tight game down to the wire.

39 now, fan since I was a little kid. Awesome to see the success they’re having after that many years.

Let's be real here, most Nebraska fans don't give a shit about Patrick Mahomes and 80% of the ones that do, didn't until like 5 years ago when the Chiefs got good
Disagree. He is the biggest star in the most popular sport/league in the US. My wife doesn’t care all that much about football and knows and has interest in Mahomes. She was excited when I told her he will be at the game tomorrow.

Congrats on your sample size of 1 brõthēr

My guess, based on that timing, we're going to have something really cool for the flyover at the end of the national anthem.

Most of the time they do practice runs the day before and the flight path is over my house to Memorial Stadium. Only plane or helicopter I saw looked to be a B52 bomber or a transport plane. Didn't get a great look at it.
