@Cash68847 If they've got an evaluation problem, it's in figuring out which WRs are gonna stick around. At this point, we have three consecutive WR classes with zero remaining players. When you're forced to start a guy like Kade Warner, something has gone horribly wrong there. IMO most (but not all) of the problems that people are attributing to Martinez (and by extension Verduzco) are really the product of deficiencies in the guys surrounding him.

I'd really like to know how things went off the rails so badly in the WR room. Ditching Walters in favor of Lubick didn't stop the bleeding there.

And yet I'm... cautiously optimistic about the WRs this season? We're basically going to be starting a whole new group there this year, and I think they could be a massive upgrade over what we've had recently. Especially Manning, like holy shitballs he's exactly piece of the puzzle that this offense has been badly missing since Stanley Morgan left. I think we were all hoping that he'd be ready to play last year, but it sounds like his health (physical and mental) just wasn't there.

If Manning and the other starters produce like I think they can, I think this could be the kind of season we've been waiting for. But if we start losing guys to injuries and crap, my optimism for the season drops dramatically.

Shot in the dark question. Not that I'd like to have him back but hypothetically does Frost entertain the idea of him coming back as a slot/RB type guy? It'd obviously have to be a Coach Carter type situation where he runs a million sprints and push ups to win the team back.

This is the case for so many of these transfers. If you're a 3/low 4 star kid w/ no film, why would any good program take a chance on you when there are literally hundreds of dudes in the portal? Dudes seem to think this is a recruiting do over for some reason.

Funny you say that, was listening to Gary Sharp on the radio on the way back to work from lunch right after basketball season ended, and players were entering the portal left and right, ya know Gary has some connections to basketball coaches and he was sharing some opinions on the air, anonymously of course, and some coaches firmly believed that some players specifically enter the portal because they miss the recruiting attention they got at one point, and want to experience that again. They crave to feel really wanted at all times. Thought it was super interesting and very appropriate for the times right now.

Unless you are just talking academics (which we're clearly not) because Rice is the shit in that category. The should play Ivy League sports because they are an academic institution first and foremost while they get their shit shoved in in every sport outside baseball.

that's what these dipshit college kids don't see. they think if they put their name in the portal they are heading to a better situation at another p5 school. the reality is that the majority end up g5 or lower.
