Does anyone remember the sports apparel store that was either just inside or next to Richmond Gordman's at Gateway? Can't remember the name, but I somehow talked my dad into buying me an Allen Iverson Georgetown jersey.
Yes! George’s Red Pepper Grill, or something. A block east of Claremont Apartments, where I spent my third and fourth years of college. Later it moved to the Haymarket almost under the viaduct. That was long before the Haymarket was what it is now. Pretty out of the way.
Speaking of super cheap, we used to go down to Guitars and Cadillacs on Thursday nights (late ‘90s) for retro dance night. They would have 25 cent mixed drinks. The cup wasn’t that big, but still. 25 cent drinks. This was very early in my mixed drink drinking career and I’d try all kinds of combos. I think before I graduated they doubled the price to 50 cents. 😂🥴
I remember I watched Jordan’s “last shot” in Game 6 to beat the Jazz in the ‘98 NBA Finals on the big Tv at G&C. Must have em been a Thursday night.
Richmond Gordman's was about 48th and Vine. Lawlor's was in Gateway for a while. They sold sporting equipment. Pro Image was in Gateway and where I got my first customized baseball jersey.
How about this place? I was obviously too young to drink, but I think it got a lot of folks swinging in the 80's with their cheap margaritas...

Speaking of Havelock, I recently had pizza at The Isles and it is as good as ever. Good to hear places like The Tam O’Shanter and Lazzari’s are still going strong.

Richmond Gordman - place available for you to stand and play Atari for hours while your Mom shopped. Montgomery Wards - tough shit... Sears was also a mecca for being able to stand around and play Atari while your Mom shopped...well, until that Adam Walsh kid went missing...
They had great chimichangas.
