I don't think Satt will be fired. I do think someone else will be calling plays even if that is not publicized. The biggest threat to the program at the present moment is that the Raiolas become alienated by the play-calling.
I don’t think Raiola is really capable of a full playbook.

The kid is struggling.
There have been guys open down field the last 3 games and he never pulls the trigger. He either doesn’t trust himself, the team, doesn’t seem the field or isn’t comfortable.
Ohio state could be an incredibly ugly game from him. He’s getting mind fucked.

Also besides Raiola inability to throw a deep pass you also never see him try to fire a ball into a tight window where’s a play to be made. It feels like he only wants a touch pass but vs zone coverage

One other angle on this is, Rhule keeps saying how he wants to run NU FB like an NFL team....well in the NFL, coordinators get shitcanned all the time. A poor performing OC or DC doesn't stick around very long in the NFL just because he's the HC's buddy.
Rhule did it himself in a similar situation with Joe Brady at Carolina. Fired in October,

I agree with this. Glenn Thomas has called plays for Rhule before IIRC.

I think whatever happened, Rhule would try to protect Satterfield's reputation for his next job.

I agree that Dylan is missing a lot of open WRs or he's just not pulling the trigger. However...that's on Satterfield. It was Satt's job to make sure we had a running game this year.

Dylan's true freshman season was not going to be a success if we had no running game (can't win w a true frosh QB throwing 50 times/game).

Again this is harsh, but Satterfield's #1 job in 2024 was to get the running game going and he's failed at that.

Yikes...you're one of the most level headed posters on here. If YOU are advocating for firings, then the shit must really be hitting the fan. 😂

I'm trying to not be a reactionary fan on this topic... but I literally just do not see any other option for Rhule (if this 14 pts/gm thing continues).

Haha well I appreciate that! For me it's not like a pissed off emotional thing, but like you said it's just become obvious ya know? I am NOT an Xs and Os person so I can't speak in depth about any of this stuff, but I've personally never been a fan of the old-timey dropback passer style in college football. I was obviously fine with going toward that direction once we got Raiola, but I at least expected that we'd execute really well and have a legit power run game as the backbone... I dunno, it just consistently seems so predictable and slow-moving and always out of rhythm.

I'm not saying I want a gimmicky offense, but I think college football actually REQUIRES a bit of a plug-and-play system that is creative and lets its freak flag fly every once in awhile, especially when you don't have the luxury of having NFL studs all over the field. Satterfense is not going to take us where we need to go.

Yup he was Rhule's co-OC at Baylor where he had a pretty fun and balanced attack. @slattimer has taken some deep dives into those teams, I think, maybe he knows more about who did what on that team?

I would love for us to find someone like Andy Kotelnicki. For those who don't know who he is, he was KU's offensive coordinator and left after last year to do the same for Penn State. His offense schemed guys getting open non stop. WR's like Grimes, Skinner, and Arnold aren't world beaters and weren't highly rated recruits, but they were constantly open, giving JD and Bean fairly easy reads and throws to make.
I would absolutely love this. KU's offense was a blast to watch. I mean come on. Why can't we ever have nice things like this haha

That’s all valid and Satt needs to be fired. It this offense could be good outside of no run game. It’s just absolute dog shit execution from the entire offense. Except maybe the oline 75% of the time.
That again. Falls and satt and everyone else. They have the talent to do it.

odd bit of football trivia:

when Rhule hired Thomas at Baylor, he was replacing a previous hire who stayed only one month at Baylor before taking a higher profile job. Guess who (the guy was a hot commodity, held four jobs in 3 months)?

Matt Lubick is taking his fourth job in the past three months, as the Baylor co-offensive coordinator and receivers coach has joined Washington’s staff in the same capacity.

Lubick had joined the Bears in early January, shortly after Ole Miss had hired him to coach receivers. And he had joined the Rebels after serving as Oregon’s offensive coordinator and receivers coach in 2016.

“I am excited to add Matt to our coaching staff,” Washington coach Chris Petersen said in a release. “He has earned a national reputation as an innovative coaching mind and a successful recruiter. Equally as important, we believe he will be a terrific fit with our staff, players and the University of Washington.”

The Banker?!?!

Bud Elliott was all over Satterfield as soon as Rhule hired him.

He has to go. Foley has to go. The experiment with the young WR coach...I dunno man. I think Satterfield is so fucking bad but he probably needs to go too.

I'd like to see Rhule reach out to Kevin Johns, he's any analyst at OU right now.

I'm gonna try to take some time to do some more OC research this week. Just in case it does happen, it's my favorite part about message boards discussing coaching possibilities.

Always wondered why Ferentz interviewed Johns publicly and went another direction. Seemed very intentional at the time

If we’re talking full on candidates I’d rather pull up someone with an established history of success at a lower level. Working out really well at Pitt. Success begets success

IMO, firing OC/DC midyear is usually a desperation move by the HC to keep his job. I am pretty sure Venables is done at OU after this year. Rhule could very well move on from Satt, but I don't think it's a midyear situation and is more likely to happen after the season.
Trying to remember the details exactly.

But in Flecks second year at Minny, they were struggling. After we housed them by 20 points, he immediately fired the DC, and the finished strong, and have been better than us since
