LeBron James

Guess the Lakers are going to suck again

Report: LeBron, AD, Westbrook affirm commitment to one another over phone call
LeBron has reaffirmed his commitment to lots of teammates he's had shipped out of town, but LeGM has produced so wgaf

I kind of care. I'm a fair weather Lakers fan. Would like to get rid of LeBron and Westbrook and start over. Get some young fun to watch players in there.

Hoping LeBron leaves, Rob Pelinka and Jeanie Buss are idiots.

Yeah they were fortunate to have that shortened season. Just think it would be a good time to move on while he's still got some value. Man has a lot of minutes played.

Outside of joining Golden State or someone like that where he can limit his minutes through the season I think he's done winning rings. He's just not capable of carrying a team anymore.

I'll never understand why people go to such lengths to defend someone on a message board who's primary goal in life is to be the center of attention, like a male kardashian. He's a total tool in my eyes but a great bball player. Don't y'all have anything other better to do???

First in the west when the season shut down, that team was winning in a bubble or not.

No one ever should have to "carry" a team after 35 years old.

Wait so bashing is allowed but if someone enters the conversation with facts that means going to such lengths? 🤣🤣

He's a billionaire that does not give a shit what you or anyone ITT think, and probably would be just fine without the white knighting. I just don't get it, do you tho, I got no horse in this tenor (8).gif

He's got a carry the team contract though. That's the problem.
The problem is that they traded a bunch of their young role players for a guy who now can't stay healthy, but they won a title so fair play I guess.

But then they traded basically every 3 and D wing they had to bring in a ball dominant point guard who is one of the worst shooters in the league and is on the downslope.

Lebron's a max guy but the NBA is just too good right now for one max guy to get it done especially with the shit sandwich bench LA has

So do 30+ other NBA players, and 2 on his current team that are younger than him.

He averaged 30 PPG last year on a team that had underperforming role players and a head coach that lost any touch with rotations that worked, that is carrying, no one else did their job.

The problem with the Lakers isn't Lebron. Although he is playing at a level no player ever has at his age (37, going to be 38 at the end of December), he is still a top 5 (maybe top 3) player in the league. His injuries the last two seasons were more fluke than "father time catching up" - guys diving into your knees/ankles will get anyone, at any age. But he and the Lakers do have to take some load off of his shoulders - father time is undefeated, even with a guy who has barely aged physically compared to anyone else with his years/games played in the league.

AD being made of glass has been the biggest issue. If he isn't healthy or able to play much, the Lakers are screwed. One out of every 3 seasons he has a somewhat healthy season, so maybe this season will be that 1 in 3 as the last two he's barely played.

Trading the farm for a terrible fitting Westbrook is the real thing that screwed the pooch for the Lakers. That and the front office not valuing players or assets at the margins. So many GM/front office mistakes that have bled them of much of any way to improve the team.

It looks like Westbrook will be in LAL yet this season as the Nets don't want to do anything with Kyrie until the KD trade situation happens. I think the Nets just hold on to KD and Kyrie and hope it works out - the other option is a complete blow up and rebuild.

Kyrie is such a doofus and flake - who knows if or when he will play any given game, season or month. But if he is playing, on the court he is a much better fit than Westbrook. Either way, it is a heave and gamble that either guy will work out for whoever they play for. Westbrook is on the downhill side of his athleticism and career, and his game doesn't fit modern basketball nor what the Lakers need. Plus he plays zero defense. 47 mil this season for a guy who can't shoot, turns the ball over a ton and plays no defense.... man. He does have some good things he brings to the table, but I don't think those things fit for a team that wants to contend, nor do those things make up for the negative areas of his game. He can put up numbers (not very efficient numbers) on a bubble level/middling team where he is the show, but that team is not an actual contender. I don't see his game being contender worthy, especially once the playoffs roll around, I think his game is a bad fit for current NBA playoff basketball.

He played fine. When he played. He can't carry the team because he's too broken down to play an 82 game season + playoffs. If he could find a team where they can afford to play him 2 out of 3 games that would be great for him and the team. Lakers can't.

The Lakers have 3 of the top 12 paid players. 2 of them play about half the time and the 3rd is

But then they traded basically every 3 and D wing they had to bring in a ball dominant point guard who is one of the worst shooters in the league and is on the downslope.

So yes the Lakers need to change things up. Fine if they want to keep AD or LeBron but LeBron would have more trade value. AD has always been injury prone and now he's definitely on the downhill. They 100% have to give up the Westbrook experiment and take their lumps.

Move all 3 of them and sign a younger star.

Give me KD and the flat earther and Nets can have AD, LeBron and Westbrook.

Too much, but being realistic, AD is almost always hurt, Westbrook is worth about a 10 mil contract, not 47 mil a year, and Lebron has only a year or two playing at a level where he can legitimately lead a bling team (which I think he can yet TBH). The Lakers wouldn't do that, but it wouldn't change their situation much either. Possible contenders, with a total rebuild coming soon.

Lakers are going to have to reset/rebuild in a couple of years regardless. KD is younger than LBJ, but no spring chicken himself and also had a major achilles tear (which he came back from very well BTW). Kyrie is so flaky, who knows how much more he will ever play in the NBA. He could just say he's done at any time. So even with KD and Kyrie (who is 29 I think, but can't see him playing a long time given his headcase ways), either way a reset/rebuild will happen sooner than later. Lakers will be in for a lot of down years soon, either way. Their saving grace is that they are the top team in the league super star players want to play for - they have that star destination thing going for them (whether people like it or not, it is true). They don't have to rebuild through the draft to get those all time greats who can win blings (and if you look back in history, nearly EVERY bling has had at least one all time, top 10 ever great, and usually 1 guy of that level and another allstar level guy or two along with a good supporting cast). They have drafted all time greats (West, Magic, Kobe), but also usually build their bling rosters with bigtime players coming other ways.

Just letting Russ expire would do them a whole heck of a lot of good.
