My vote came after I watched all of Minchey’s ND spring ball film. Better competition and could be sacked by touch.
He showed mobility I haven’t seen for Lateef. He showed quick field recognition in have seen from Lateef yet. He flashed Raiola level throws I haven’t seen from Lateef yet.
He also made some questionable throws, same as I have seen with Lateef.
Bottom line, the eyeball test tells me he’s a better QB than Lateef RIGHT NOW.
I believe he was told that “unless you come in here in spring and fall and really shit it up, then you’ll be a starter.” Not a guarantee, but the closest thing you can come to one without scaring him off.
But it will be commuted to team that it’s an open competition, when it’s really not, (just like last year with Raiola). Everybody knew he was the starter without the coaches coming out and saying it out loud.
If Lateef would’ve come in and literally beat out Dylan and blowing him out of the water, then he would’ve won the starting job, but we all know that wasn’t happening. So is that a guarantee? In common sense terms it is. But not technically.
If Minchey is coming here then he’s absolutely confident he’s gonna be the starter. That may or may not be the same thing as a guarantee.
